Serene: To the General Public At Last
A few pieces of Ser's thoughts and life, which are carefully broken down from her life mosaic and preserved into this online journal. Read with care.
I Feel Sorry for my Water Boiler
I just googled this up, and apparently it's very common.
Don't you ever feel like... this world is tough? That may be a "OH DUH WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT?" question, but if you are giving me that answer than you are definitely not thinking hard enough. For me, I think of a guy crying and crawling desperately on a desert ground with no sign of life except for - maybe - a dying ant.
Today I was making tea with my sister when I saw that water heater. And then I thought. I reflected back upon that time when my grandmother said that she left her water heater on at all times. Even on vacations. And then I thought of a scene where this poor little water heater is all alone at home. Ignorant of its masters' whereabouts. Just faithfully keeping its water warm, never halting once. It's snowing outside, and it's just waiting for someone to press the button to release the water. (Except my grandmother lives in Taiwan, and it never snows there.) It just breaks my heart to think of a water boiler like that. D; I would always turn my water boiler off whenever I go off on a vacation.
When I watch Toy Story, I also feel very sorry for the toys. Especially when they're left behind. But toys are different. They can be played with over and over, and with new owners too. If they break, they can be fixed. (Most of the time.) Sadly, the same does not apply to my water boiler. If it's broken, it will just sit there and rust. And I will probably be forced to give it away.
I didn't like that pink teddy-bear in the Toy Story 3 movie we watched in Art. He had an annoying voice. But I still felt sorry for him when he was left behind... all alone. Unwanted.
When something gets left behind, I also feel sorry for it. Like that apple on the very top of the pile. People notice it, but they think it's not as fresh as the obviously superior counterparts underneath.
If people invent robots like in Chobits, I think people can't help but sympathize and accept them into society. Chobits was so sad. I love the main characters.
