User Image
Character Name: Kauros Valmont, The Emperor of Vayl
Race/ Species: Human, once.

Gender: Male
Age: 32
Height: 10' 3"
Weight: 872 Lbs
Build: Colossal

Physical Appearance: What Kauros used to be is no more, and his physical frame is not even a hollow remnant of the man it left behind. Though his face has yet to be seen, his limbs are huge and slightly disproportionate to his frame -longer than they should be. What can be said with certainty is that those who lay eyes on him will never forget the infernal creature they behold.

Biography: Kauros Valmont was the highly praised and respected Chosen Guardian of Aldrect Tibbons, Vayl's presiding Dictator. Born and raised in Vayl, a life of dedication, loyalty and courage earned him countless medals, the faith and trust of his peers and the personal blessing of Aldrect himself. Under Kauros' guiding hand, Vayl's elite Guardians become a force of merit and incredible strength, preserving Aldrect's rule for nearly 15 years and thwarting any would be assassin or revolutionary who gunned for the throne. Married with two daughters, Kauros was a national hero to Vayl's people and a shining example of unswerving service to his homeland. He always put his Lord and Nation first, even before his family. He never had time to regret this decision.

Mere weeks from the present, Kauros was approached by Vayl's Minister of Defense with the opportunity of a lifetime. The joint efforts of Vayl's Departments of Science and Magic had yielded the ability to augment a human being beyond the capabilities of any nation short of Kamui; making them faster, stronger, smarter and tougher than any other. Kauros was offered the privilege of being the program's first subject and seeing the incredible potential for good it could do he accepted without hesitation.

The next day, after unwittingly sharing his final meal with his wife and daughters, Kauros kissed his loved ones and was escorted by armed guard aboard stealth jet to a hidden research facility buried below Vayl's capital city of Nero. For the next 12 hours, Kauros underwent strenuous mental, physical, and emotional tests in order to insure that he was fit for the augmentation process. He passed all of them with flying colors, and was finally escorted to the chamber where he was to be reborn. There, he witnessed horror beyond comprehension.

Before his eyes, incomplete; dismembered; flayed open to reveal its inner workings was the thrashing, raging form of a Demon more terrible than any he had read about or seen. An Arch Demon, the Lord of Desolation, Noxugal X'ilkax. The huge, colossal creature's soul was being torn from its flesh by the hands of several surgeons and wizards. Kauros requested immediate dismissal. He was informed that he was no longer allowed to exit the facility. His soul violated by the very sight of such things, the Chosen Guardian made a desperate rush to the surface, killing a few guards and wounding several.

As he fled into the night, commandeering transport in the fierce dash to retrieve his family and flee the country. The manhunt did not last long. By the time he reached his home, it was in the clutches of inferno. Kauros would never bother to look for the answer to his questions, but the truth was the arson would give Vayl's government the ability to claim Kauros dead, to reshape him in every aspect. Without moment's pause, the man plunged headfirst into the flames. In their attempt to deceive the nation of his loss of life, they took three more despite attempts to avoid incident. Kauros Valmont was "hospitalized" immediately, only to be proclaimed dead three hours later.

The truth is that Vayl's hero was abducted by his own peers and comrades prostrate in the burning stretch of his front yard, his home collapsed and smoldering behind him and the charred remains of a young girl in his arms. He was sedated before he could resist.

There are no surviving witnesses to what took place in that underground facility, but all that matters is the end result. From a violent upheaval of exploding structure came a creature the likes of which no mortal eyes had seen. It tore an insane path of death and hysteria through Nero to The Lord's Palace. There, on public television in the midst of a commemoration speech for his own passing, Kauros ripped the head from his former ward. There, slicked in the old Dictator's blood and holding the nation's Holy Mystic at gunpoint, Kauros Valmont was crowned Emperor of a new Vayl. One crushed into submission by fear and massacre, forcing all males old enough to walk into his grand new Empire's grand new army.

The world would burn with forests of fire and drown in rivers of blood.. Strife would witness a new era of horror unlike any one could bear. True terror marched on the world... and it would all start with Vayl.

Personality: Kauros' brain was both "reprogrammed" and then "accidentally" made contact with Noxugal's psyche. The result is a mind that was redesigned for a singular purpose and then dominated by a psychotic force with a singular and utter desire for destruction, death and despair. There is not a shred of humanity left in Kauros, and no desire for anything but than to watch all life on Strife cannibalize itself by his hand. His perception of morality has not only been reversed but entirely justified by the parameters programmed into his brain. He will mangle children in front of their mothers; eat another's lover for the sole purpose of inflicting suffering and catastrophe.

Equipment:
- The Sword of Vayl: An ancient longsword passed on to every ruler Vayl has had for the past millenia. Crafted from the metal of a fallen star and the smelted bones of a Black Dragon, it was then enchanted by The Ink Star Shamans of Menethil to curse and blind the enemies of its wielder. As per Vayl's penchant for meddling in the Infernal realms, the blade was also infused with the soul of a lesser Pit Lord - a soul which Kauros has assimilated. The blade has it's own hunger for bloodshed, and it's forever keen edge has found great fulfillment in the hands of its new master.

- The Skin of Noxugal: While not exactly equipment, Kauros' "new" body was fused with numerous pieces of the body of Noxugal, the most apparent being the Arch Demon's formidable hide. Tougher than kevlar and as flexible as human epidermis, the skin was then additionally enhanced with carbon nanotubes and adamantine laminate reflectors to divert most of the energy from laser weapons. Kauros' natural armor is exceptionally slash and pierce resistant, and capable of repelling many solid ammunition calibers. The hide's inherent Arch Demonic attributes also render him immune to fire.

- Prototype Vayl Imperius Armor: Renamed on account of Kauros' position as Emperor, this armor was initially developed as the new gold standard for Vayl's elite Guardian units. While the structure of the suit itself has been compromised in order to form a more composite set out of two in order to fit The Emperor's massive frame, its appearance is both fearsome and practical. Interlocking plates of black cold forged titanium cover the more vulnerable areas of Kauros' body, absorbing the shock of high impact weapons and, in conjunction with the strength of his hide, proves a stalwart line of defense against virtually all forms of ballistic and martial attacks.

- Dual Plasma Pulse Rifle: The D.P.R. Rifle represents the absolute best in plasma armaments that Strife's Gulf nations can provide, and has earned its rank among the most lethal personal firearms in the world. The cutting edge of plasma technology and sporting an exceptionally efficient design, The D.P.R. utilizes utilizes the power of dark energy plasma which can burn and incinerate organic material. Unlike ballistic and energy weapons, which utilize kinetic energy and momentum to determine the damage of their rounds, energized dark plasma acts as a disintegrant to organic matter, rapidly converting the cellular matter at the point of contact into more dark plasma. This plasma is stored inside compact energy plugs which themselves are stored in special magazines. By pulling the trigger, the firing pin hits the detonator of the energy plug to release the dark energy plasma stored inside. Under normal conditions, this plasma would burst outward in all directions. but when it happens within the energy barrel, the energy is channeled and directed towards the unfortunate target. Each plug stores enough dark energy plasma for 50 pulses. The magazine has a built-in mechanism which frees the user from manually reloading the weapon. It also incorporates a metal shield which protects the user's vulnerable trigger arm. In fact, the whole magazine itself is designed also as a protective shield. The rifle is fully automatic, and possesses a very high rate of fire, capable of discharging the whole energy plug in seconds. The lack of bullet casings to eject and the simplicity of design gives the weapon a very reliable fire mode, in addition to it's devastating secondary fire. The Pulse Rifle can also fire dark energy plasma cores -entire plasma plugs in a single grenade-like discharge. These cores ricochet off of inorganic material but are capable of colossal damage against living organisms. The launcher for these cores is mounted directly under the barrel and can hold up to 3 cores at once.

Strengths:
- The Avatar of Noxugal: During his "rebirth," Kauros' body was reshaped and expanded to accommodate and channel the physical might and power of an Arch Demon. His own bones were reinforced with the marrow of Noxugal's, his muscles genetically modified with the DNA and tissue of the beast so that they would be able to maximize the new Chosen Guardian's abilities. Vayl's researchers were unaware of just how powerful a creature they had created. When the accident occurred that merged Arch Demon's soul with Kauros' its new body grew even greater in size, creating a perfect fusion of Demon and Human genetics far superior to any half breed. Biologically engineered to be an unstoppable force, and unified with the infernal powers of Noxugal, Kauros is stronger, faster, and tougher than nearly every creature from this mortal coil. Kauros is also capable of manipulating fire and creating fire at will, including those flames which might be controlled by wizards and pyrokinetics. In addition to this, the dark influence and cunning of Noxugal's spirit has fused with The Sword of Vayl's own captured soul, that of the Pit Lord Zarxij' Thoss. With this union, Kauros is capable of channeling his immense power directly into his blade, creating physical explosions of power upon contact. This energy is limited only by his rage and willpower, both of which seem endless. In addition to the total flame resistance granted him by his skin, Kauros also bears the inherent immunities of an Arch Demon. His flesh regenerates rapidly on its own accord, allowing him to recover quickly from anything less than the most brutal and well planned attacks. Poisons and pestilence, as well as necromantic and infernal sorcery, also have no effect on him.

- The Chosen Guardian: While Kauros' memories of his life, family and legacy have all been erased from his memory, the vault of knowledge achieved through his life's experiences as The Chosen Guardian all remain. The cunning, strategic and calculating mind of Kauros Valmont, including his combat experience and exceptional skills, are now one with Noxugal's dark and terrible powers. This fusion of minds has created a monster that has as much intelligence and insight as it does power.

- An Endless Storm of Fury: Kauros single-handedly slew Vayl's diplomats and governance, all of their elite guards, and the entirety of any military resistance that had initially attempted to stop him. He is capable of attacking relentlessly and taking devastating amounts of damage without so much as a thought to it, His singular purpose is to eradicate all of Humanity across Strife, and he will not stop until that goal is accomplished.

- Terrifying Presence: Kauros Valmont is the perversion of two clashing forms of life combined in total harmony. His visage is unlike any man's eyes have seen before, and his appearance is sickening to the soul. Faced with lesser men, his gaze is often enough to make them flee in terror, and the knowledge of all he's done and what he is capable of can make the bravest men doubt their own skills and any hope of victory. Kauros is capable of inflicting fear with terrible ease, and even those that are not intimidated by his appearance may come to fear the indomitable might of his being.

- The Devil's Speech: The Arch Demon Noxugal has gifted Kauros with its oppressive psychic abilities. The Emperor of Vayl can invade all but the most shielded mortal mind almost at will, requiring little concentration and even no energy. Once inside another mind, Kauros is capable of drawing upon a person's greatest fears and all of their memories; of making them experience crippling horrors within the sanctity of their own mind. The reach of his psychic powers is vast, spanning many miles, giving him the ability to influence even those individuals that are not in his line of sight. For those mortals who shield their minds from such mental onslaught, a dice roll will be made to determine whose resolve is stronger.

Weaknesses: Virtually nothing is known about Kauros Valmont, his present state, or the tests he underwent. All of the scientists, mages and other researchers in the facility are dead, with the possibility of a select few survivors with any knowledge of the Project. There are answers somewhere... hidden or buried, but until they are found men can only speculate at ways to combat the former Chosen Guardian's unstoppable terror.

Other Skills: Kauros has the power of flight, can jump great distances both vertically and horizontally, and his claws and talons allow him to climb on many surfaces.
