Black Taxi
Following your instincts in choosing a book is important. Here's how I came across this gem. I was browsing through the book shelves looking for stories I recognised, and then looking at books that had nothing to do with any of my reading background. I ignored those books. My eyes drifted towards 'Kill the Possum', which was a fantastic book I read two years ago. So you know what, I picked up the book next to it, also written by the same author, James Moloney.

It turns out the book was 'un-put-downable' (in a way)! I was reading it before dinner. I had no choice to put it down but then picked it back up after dinner. I read right through midnight and then again, I had little choice but to put the book down because my eyes were dying and I needed to sleep. It was sad parting with the book. So once I woke up at midday, I read it again. I finished it in the afternoon. It's such a well written story with so much attitude and an interesting perspective on things we take for granted. I swear, James Moloney is a brillant writer!

The story goes something like this...
Rosie's grandpa goes to jail and leaves her with his Mercedes and mobile phone. People start calling her up like she's some sort of cab driver. Then she gets this angry call about some sort of missing ring (worth 20 grand!), which she has no idea about. And the story's filled with lots of hilarious situations e.g. Rosie helps her brother's friend 'move house' by picking him and his stuff up. Her brother's friend has a black garbage bag full of weed, sitting in the boot of the Mercedes! Rosie doesn't know about this until the cops pull her over, with the weed in the boot!!! Then that arsehole isn't to be seen! He just disappears! It's sooooo funny!

Highly recommended book! Glad I trusted my instincts. smile
