Day to day of the apathetic
Show me yours and ill show you mine!
Dawn
It was early in the morning when we got home, the chill air biting on the back of my neck. I opened the door that led to my room. It was dark, the faint smell of smoke started seeping out. We walked in, smiles on our faces from the previous night's rave; the music still gently thudding in our ears. I walked past the buzzing computer to twist the knob on my lamp. The light came on at once, almost blazing, then softly filling the room with a fluorescent glow.

He walked towards my couch, sat in the corner seat, then laid his head against the plush leather cushion. I stood there gazing at him; staring at the top of his head, his eyebrows were peeking out in front of his light brown hair. I could hear his rhythmic breathing over the sound of the computer. I pressed a key; my computer expectantly came to life. I searched my music folder then selected a CD from the list and watched as the background sprang to life with the music. The colors started to vividly move with the sound, twisting into sparkling specters, and colored waves.

Tired, my feet started to move, slowly, almost painfully towards the couch. I was in front of the couch gently rubbing my eyes, lifting my hand up to weakly suppress a yawn. He looked at me and smiled awkwardly, his lip curled up towards the left side of his face, his green eyes half closed, yet still sparkling under his heavy lids. He scratched the reddish stubble on his chin and then motioned for me to sit down. Half asleep, I plopped down, laying on the couch, the top of my head brushing the side of his leg. I was facing away from him, I stared forward, only for the sake of keeping my eyes open.

The music took me then. I was arguably awake, yet the sound became a vivid image in my mind, swaying with colors in a deep forest. The leaves were spattered with blue and green hues; the wind swept them from the forest floor towards the canopy of trees. The very air was electric, tantalizing, and inviting me to lose myself in the depths of this ancient realm. There was a gentle coolness against my cheek; I opened my eyes to his touch. His hand cascaded along my cheek then came to rest on the back of my neck. I turned my head to try to see him, though my hair betrayed me then, blocking the view of his face. His hand came out and poked my forehead above my left eye. I couldn't see it then, but I could feel him smiling at my helplessness; I smiled back.

I moved up on the couch laid my head on top of his leg; his hand moved towards the back of my neck. My hand slid up from my side; I could feel the soft fuzz from my shirt as it brushed the back of my hand, I placed it on his knee. I started to draw circles on his leg, then began to flick his exposed skin. He moved suddenly to grasp my hand with his own. His hand felt warmer then, warmer than I remembered it being at the back of my neck. He gently squeezed and moved my hand around, finally locking his fingers with my own. He pulled it forward and pushed my head off his leg. Stunned, I moved to sit up; all the while he lifted his leg up. He poked my cheek suddenly, making me flinch, and lay his left leg along the inside of the couch and motioned for me to lay back down. I looked at him, twisted my nose, stuck out my tongue, and laid back down before he could respond. My head came to rest on the inside of his thigh, while his left leg ran down my back.

I was still facing away from him; he laid his hand down on my neck, and I kissed the part of his leg that was exposed. My mouth opened again, another yawn escaped my lips, yet this one would not be wasted. I bit down on his knee, he squeezed the back of my neck and roughly rubbed his other hand in my hair. I turned around to face my would be tormentor. He smiled at me, and stuck out his tongue. I sheepishly grinned before kissing the inside of his leg again. I pressed my hand against his stomach, searching for an opening to let my hand under his shirt. He grabbed my hand and placed it there, we both smiled as I laid my head back down on his leg.

I could hear thudding then. Was it the music? No; it was off-rhythm, yet constant. It was his heart beat, gentle at first, then slowly picking up speed. The pulse racing: was it fear, or excitement? He placed his hand on my forehead and gingerly moved it down across my eyes to close them. I blinked and stared at him, his eyes made promises; somberly falling lost within them. The corners of my eyes were darkening, until all I could see was the gleam in his eye. The weariness took me then; I dreamt, sweetly, of the promises that could only be found staring into the emeralds of his soul.
