The tradition of the Easter bonnets comes from the tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter. New clothes was associated with the renewal of the year and the promise of spiritual renewal and redemption. It is said that wearing three new clothing items will bring you good luck for the year. The circular shape of the hat represents the sun and the full circle return of spring. Flowers are also a popular part of the bonnet as another symbol of spring.
