There
by Allie V

Are you my guide;
my supporter; my safe haven?
You seem so far from my side.
I waited years, and I gave in.

It seems you are always absent
when my brain is in knots,
the relationship is stagnant;
and I can't connect the dots.

Torn between my own being
and the life you want me to live.
Seeing is believing,
and I'm sure you can forgive
the choices I've made in my years.
Are you here when the storm hits,
and earth is swamped by tears?

I didn't think so.

So I often ask:
Are you here when the day
brushes shoulders with the night?
While half the world a shade of grey,
a few see the light.

You've left me with confusion.
You've left me with fear.
It's utter delusion,
and I hope you can hear;
I ask for an inkling,
a breath,
a clue.
Some sort of intimation
that will lead me to you.
