In Greek Myth figs were a gift from Demeter and sacred to Dionysus. From Central Asia to the Far East fig trees are noted as the Tree of Life and Knowledge. In Italy figs were used to cure warts. Ancient Hebrews saw the fig tree as a symbol of peace and plenty. Ancient Egyptian priest ate figs at their consecration ceremonies. The many seeds in the fig are a symbol of unity and the university of true understanding.
