Once upon a time there was a little girl and her mother gave her iron clothing and told her she could not come and visit her until her clothes wore away so the little girl rubbed herself against the wall day after day to wear her clothes out sooner. When she finally created a hole she packed up a basket with bread and cheese and went to got see her mother. On her way to her mother's house she met a wolf. "What do you have in the basket?" the wolf asked.
"Food for my mother" the girl answered.
"Can I have some?" the wolf asked.
"No," the little girl answered.
The wolf thought a moment "Are you going to take the path of pins or the path of needles?" Asked the wolf
"The path of pins." answered the girl.
So the wolf left and ran down the path of needles as quickly as possible and got to the little girl's mother's house first and swallowed her up.
When the little girl got there she found the wolf in her mother's bed.
"I am very hungry." the girl said.
"There is some meat in the kitchen, have some." The wolf answered.
The little girl went into the kitchen and began to eat the meat.
"Don't do that, that is your mother's flesh you are eating" Said a mouse.
"Mother, " the little girl called over her shoulder. "There is a mouse that says I am eating your flesh"
"Ignore it, shoo it away." The wolf answered and the little girl ate up the meat. "Mother I am very thirsty." The little girl pleaded.
"There is some red wine in a bottle, drink some." The wolf replied.
So the little girl lifted the bottle up to her lips.
"Don't do that!" said a bird on the window sile, "That is your mother's blood!" "Mother," the girl called over her shoulder again, "There is a bird saying I am drinking your blood."
"Shoo the bird away and drink up." The wolf answered.
So the little girl drank and ate then came into the bedroom and sat with the wolf whom she thought was her mother.
"Mother, what big eyes you have." The little girl said in awe.
"All the better to see you with my dear" the wolf retorted.
"Mother, what big ears you have"
"All the better to hear you with my dear"
"Mother what big hands you have!"
"All the better to hold you with my dear!"
"Mother! What big teeth you have!!"
"All the better to eat you with!" The wolf shouted and devoured the little girl.
