I feel them coming in. The cracks in my defenses are failing even more. A desperate attempt to patch them up so I can be safe...even if for just a moment longer. The presence is malevolent, dark, evil. A being that will soon fetch it's friends, it's cohorts to help tear me down.
My defenses fail even more as gruesome claws scratch their way in. Terror strikes my heart when one blood stained talon breaches my wall. The darkness is seeping in. I can't contain it any longer.
Then a light shows. Just a pinprick in existence. I know that if I harness this light, let it enter my soul, it can become something more. A voice whispers to me and it is kind and loving. The voice is of a much higher power. Higher than the darkness that seeks me and far more powerful as well. "Take the light," it says. "Receive me."
And I do.
Pure and warm, the light is that of the heavens. With renewed strength and no fear, I cats out the darkness in the name of all that is holy and pure. My walls are once again fortified and I can live another day.
