My name is Eric Pizana and I work at Inside/Out Youth Services and Urban Peak Colorado Springs.
Back in April 2011 the Urban Peak Outreach team held the "You Know Different Campaign" aimed to educate and prevent the spread HIV amongst sexual minority youth. The Gay and Lesbian Fund let the Urban Peak Outreach team use its space and to coordinate this campaign with other organizations such as the Health Department, Inside/Out Youth Services, Planned Parenthood, The Pride Center, and S-CAP. They have always been generous for lending their space out to the community.
Personally the Gay and Lesbian Fund holds a special place in my heart because I never attended my prom in high school. As a gay youth I was not allowed to bring who I really wanted as my date. I attended the first annual gay prom put together by Inside/Out Youth Services and it was hosted at the Gay and Lesbian Fund building.
Its presences in this community will truly be missed. Its contribution to this community monumental.
