Today, bored and procrastinating, I looked up what my MC's name actually means. Susannah Patience Greenly. I came up with it pretty much on a whim, and only knew what Patience meant, because, you know, in a language I speak.
So.
Susannah means Lily in Hebrew. It's a English bastardization of a French bastardization of a Greek bastardization of the Hebrew name Shosannah. (only accented. Also, bastardized is a technical linguistic term. Not a swear word in this case.)
Greenly means from the valley, pretty much. It's an old English surname given given to people who lived in the space between hills (a lee, for the uninformed), which means valley.
Susannah Greenly, then, means Lily of the Valley.
Now, the language of flowers is something that I learned a while ago, on a whim (Never give your girlfriend orange lilies, or carmine roses for that matter. The first mean hatred and the second mean false love). Lily of the Valley mean, among other things, have patience.
Susannah Patience Greenly. Truth in advertising?

On Reflection...
Things that amuse me. Or confuse me. Or just need talking about.
In whatever language happens to strike my fancy.
