Provostad

In the still of a cool Autumn night a cry echoes across the kingdom," The king is dead! King Leon has been slain." As members of the kings court and town-folks begin to gather in the throne room sadness, anger, and shock are felt across the crowd. Tears fall like a spring rain as an eerie silence befalls the room.
Then out of nowhere the doors to the throne room burst off their hinges, splintered wood is cast across the room. A figure steps through the opening where the doors once stood.
Seven and a half feet tall, adorned in in black armor with monstrous looking faces fashioned onto it wielding a huge sword,the blade still painted with fresh crimson, the figure advances toward the throne. Turning to the crowd, a gasp falls over them, for the closest thing resembling humanity is dead eyes and pale skin, seen through the gaps in the helmet the figure wears. Heavy breathing, almost akin to growling, was heard as the figure spoke in a voice that radiated evil. " I am the one who is Ravage! I took your king with ease, just as I now take his crown and kingdom. Anyone who wishes to oppose me the step forward and I will send you to see your fallen king. Silence fell across the crowd, just quiet sobbing was heard as heads hanging low.
Within a matter of days Ravage and his monstrous minions had Provostad in their clutches. People were starving and dying in the street, those not cut down like wheat where sent to Mount Zillesti to be feed to the creature know as Ravages pet.
All looked lost for Provostad, save for one man, Klouse Pettigrew, adviser, cleric and friend to King Leon, he took refuge in the forest on the very outskirts of Provostad and with ancient lore, crude magic,and blessings from his god he opened some type of gate to other worlds, lands, and planes of existence. Klouse prayed diligently that some brave souls who would not cower in the face of fear would pass through the gate and help to restore the kingdom of Provostad.
