The EB and Diedrich are at war again. It's cute against anti-cute. NPCs post eggs in threads for people to collect. They're only active for a certain period of time. (At first, they remained active and people just searched old threads for eggs.)
Threads are either for the cute or anti-cute side. NPCs from the other team will come and "attack" the thread by posting a demand that must be met (post x times in x minutes) or else the thread gets "turned" to the other side.
It's... interesting, I guess. I just miss the old days of collecting an egg that would bounce across my screen every 10 or 15 minutes. It took less attention from my part. > < Though it's good that the event was up for two weeks. I'm sure I could've easily completed it if I'd had the time.
And I hate to say it, but I'm going Diedrich this round. x -----x I thought I'd never do that. I always side with the classic characters. However, I like the achievement for the cute side more. u .u;

Also, Gaia has a new campaign where users who don't use ad-block are rewarded by having a chance to get special item grants through the ads. They did this a while ago and phased it out or something. I don't know. Anyway, here's a thread that's keeping track of the new items:

I was feeling nostalgic during the March 17th holiday so I skimmed through some of the announcement forum. I was looking for announcements for St Patty's Day events, but also clicked random announcements that looked interesting.
I was searching because, in my mind, we'd had more SPD events than we actually did have. I guess the random-quote-generating Odanodan has flooded my nostalgia. I know he hadn't been around... but I also fondly remember the event that gave me the four leaf clover pin and handheld. That was the first green handheld item. XD;
Anyway, I never finished going through all the announcements so I don't know exactly how many SPD events we've had.
I know in the past that I didn't bat an eye if we missed certain holidays. A St. Patrick's Day wasn't guaranteed. However, with everyone saying "they never give us anything for SPD," I started to wonder. I had come to expect something with each passing SPD. So I've skimmed through announcements....
2004 - 2005 .... The announcements are no longer visible. I don't remember having a SPD event or any items though.
2006 - No SPD event as the easter event has six items. o: Collect ten eggs, fill a basket and go to Easter Bunny to get rewarded.
