She held my hand and called after me as I walked.
Her smile brimming and her eyes gleaming up to me.
I held her and loved her. I envied such innocence.
Her heart races towards me like a speeding car.
Sweet heart, sweet heart, please, stay where you are.
Peach colored skin and olive colored eyes.
I am of savory year of deep youth.
She still beams towards me.
My eyes burn and my head aches.
I push her back.
Yet our hearts tug back in motion.
Years tugged at my eyes and held my shoulders.
I am reaching the end of my gate.
I look back and she's gone.
I hear a seeping cry.
I take steps back and follow the sobs.
There she is.
There I am.
