Home Sweet Home
Well I finally got to come home from the skilled nursing facility on the last Friday of May.
The hospital sent me to the nursing facility at the end of April, so I spent one month there, recovering.
It's wonderful to finally be home.
I'm still recovering, but doing well enough to be on my own, now.
The first few days home were a bit shaky, and I had to order take out food to be delivered cause I wasn't up to preparing meals yet.
I'm doing better now.

One problem has become apparent, though.
I've had constant diarrhea since coming home and resuming my normal diet.
I saw my doctor this past Friday, and was informed that during the surgery they removed a part of my colon called the cecum.
It seems that the cecum acts as a valve, regulating the flow of digestive material through the intestines.
With my cecum missing there is nothing there to regulate the flow and everything is passing through rather fast, resulting in the diarrhea.

The doctor ordered labs done, to determine for sure that it's not the c-diff infection causing the diarrhea.
He doesn't think it is, but we have to be sure.
Once the results are in he said he'll decide what course of action needs to be taken to fix this issue.

In the meantime, I was told a low-fat high fiber diet may help.
He said fatty foods have a tendency to pass much faster than high fiber foods.
I found out how true this is yesterday.
I had a can of chili in my cupboard, and it said the fiber content was 52%.
I ate it with 2 slices of whole wheat bread, and the diarrhea was held at bay for 18 hours.
It's a good thing I like beans, but I have a feeling that I may still get sick of them sooner or later, if I have to make them a daily staple of my diet.

So glad you are home! I worried so hard about you!
It will take some time to readjust, obviously. I hope your recovery continues and I hope that there is no infection.
