My Journal for the Writing of Things
I like being able to have something to write in and would love comments of anyone reading the stories I may post in here.
The Lost Children
The Lost Children will forever be remembered. Their hearts and souls floating up into the pure whiteness that awaits us all, or for the unlucky few, trapped in this world. They don't find peace because of how they died... but how did they die, you ask? Well... let me tell you a little story. It's actually rather long, but I'm sure that you wouldn't be reading this if you thought you were going to be reading something nice and short. This is the story of the Lost Children of Velonia, a world that is now covered in nothing but darkness and Reapers, but I'll get to what those monsterous creatures are soon enough...

Velonia was much different from Earth, even before destruction brought ruin to its lands. Velonia's weather changed rapidly over the planet all the time, but people always knew where to live to avoid the cold or the heat during the different times of the years. Now, that doesn't sound so bad, does it? Well, those 'cold spots' were like mini ice ages and the 'hot spots', if gone too far into them, would become the next point for volcanic activity. Life on Velonia wasn't ever easy, nor was it exactly safe for the colonists that landed there to make a new home for themselves since other planets were either non-inhabitable, too dangerous, or just didn't have enough room for them to stay since their own planets were becoming overcrowded on their own without Earthlings' help procreating and making more of a problem.

That's when they found Velonia. The place was hostile and as dangerous as they come, but it was uninhabited by any life that the humans could find. They quickly adapted to the changes in weather, hunted for food, found out what was medical type herbs and what weren't, etc. by doing what humans had been doing for millions of years to survive. There was a certain type of peace and yet unsettling nervousness in the Earthlings' homes since they hadn't found any locals but would find things missing, or perhaps strange footprints. No one ever went missing or was attacked at night, but the humans would lock their doors and windows every night and even sleep with guns under their pillows. The children would even have weapons and would carry them everywhere, but the adults were making their weapons far more sophisticated than the ones that shot ordinary bullets bullets. Sure there were incendiary and electric bullets, but they were making laser beam pistols that could slice a rock in half as if it were butter being cut with a hot knife. How amazing was that?

Well, those weapons would come in handy one day, they just didn't know it. The natives had been watching them and they learned the humans' different languages, since not all of them were from the United States in North America. They learned English, French, Taiwanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and every other human language that they could learn so that they could end up communicating with them so that they could understand these creatures more. They were what most humans would call demons, shapeshifters, or monsters because they could change their bodies to look like anything and anyone they wanted to, but what gave them away were their eyes. They were always neon colours, and even some of them were colours that couldn't be human eye colours like purple or silver.

Well, when the locals finally came into the camp of the humans, they were in the form of human children. They smiled at the aliens they had come to call 'The Lost Children' and their leader, looking to be a ten-year-old girl with blonde locks of hair, pink eyes, and very pale looking skin, walked towards them alone. She wore a lovely pink and white silk dress that covered all the way down to her ankles and had sleeves. She walked up to the Captain of the ship the humans had arrived on and their leader and offered her hand in the form of a handshake, smiling softly at him "We wish not to harm any of you", she said in perfect English, which shocked the man, who shook her hand. She explained that her race were millions of years old but they only had lifespans of that of the humans'. They gained knowledge by connecting their minds with living things around them that opened up their minds to them willingly, though not all of the humans liked the idea that they could read minds, even though they couldn't unless their participants were willing and touching their hands or heads.

The human's trusted leader at the time talked with the new visitors for hours in his tent in private. The girl told him many things about the creatures that lived on the planet, like which ones were sacred to them and which ones they could eat without
violating the new peace treaty that they were making for the two tribes. The humans needed help, and the Lost Children were more than welcoming to the arrivals. They helped around the camp and even set up totems that would drive away the night predators so that the people didn't fear going out at night or dying from a random take-over of their camp.

[To be continued...]
