I only recently discovered They Might Be Giants. They're a band from the 80's that was a pioneer of nerd rock, which is right up my alley. Though they started in the 80's I'm pretty sure they're still active musicians even today, which is pretty impressive. As I understand it, the core of the band is just 2 guys both named John (John Flansburgh and John Linnell) and they rotate other band members. Two incredibly creative guys with a strangely catchy but often avant garde song style. I generally don't like anything labeled as avant garde as I'm not a very artistic person and tend to not understand art. Especially when it's purposefully far from the norm and just plain bad all for the sake of calling it art and being able to alienate people for not understanding it. That said, TMBG have a massive library of songs and even when I filter out the stuff I don't like there's more than enough left to enjoy for hours on end. This particular song is one of their more traditional and catchy ones. I'm pretty sure it's a newer song too. Their older stuff, and older videos, are even weirder but in a way that I can definitely get into.
