An Eternal Empire - Main Plot?

"The humans push forward with The Great Purge of Magick, eliminating all magickal creatures capable of tapping into the energies of the land. They come upon the dwarven race of the mountains, magick-incapable beings, and are persuaded to ally with the dwarves during the human conquest, as the dwarves are weapons specialists. Under the new allegiance, a new formidable weapon is developed to assist in the genocide against magick folk. The resulting creation is a device capable of draining magick from the planet and those who possess it, and with this raw energy source, the humans and dwarves are able to channel the energy into a physical manifestation: a disfigured, mindless drone willing to serve the commands of their masters – a perfect army. These creatures have brutish strength, lack any empathy, emotion, or feeling, and are able to neutralize magick around them just by being present. Although the army is small and a large amount of extracted magick is needed to create one, a single drone is capable of taking out dozens of combatants in a battle. With this newfound technology, the magickal creatures of the world are finding little hope of surviving in Eternus."

Restoring the Dryads

"The burning of the Forest of Faeon was tragic for many creatures, but it was only the first of many burnings and raidings across the land of Eternus. If a forest still stands, the Empire just hasn't reached it yet. Many races and creatures were killed off during these burnings, one such creature was wiped out of Eternus almost entirely, the spirits of nature, the dryads. If magick folk ever hope to restore the scorched lands of Eternus once again, these beings are necessary. One would have to travel to the world's eldest tree and gather its seeds to restore the dryads, but only if the Empire doesn't reach the tree first."

The Ritual

"Necromancers gather in the depths of the Feigning Bog, hidden amongst the ruins of Necropolis. They are evil creatures bent on using ancient, barbaric forms of magick further their desires. These beings perform dark, sadistic rituals to gain their powers, not true magick, but the powers blessed unto them by their gods.

They kidnap unwilling persons, targeting mostly infants and children, and whisk them away to their temples in the mists. There, the individual is stripped of all belongings and spread across cold stone with their hands and feet to be anchored at the corners. First, they are administered a sinister injection, a drug created by the various foliage of the bog, that induces a particular type of paralysis that disables the body of movement but allows the prickle of pain to seep through while keeping the heart alive. Then, they are ever-so-gently plucked apart piece by piece, starting with their nails, teeth, and even the genitalia. The only thing left on the outside of the body is the eyes, so they can witness the events of their dismemberment. Then the Necromancers continue with a deep incision across the belly and chest; the organs are removed and laid out upon the altar. Finally, the still-beating heart is lifted from the chest cavity so the victim may lay eyes upon it. The organ is then devoured by the members of the cult, and if the gods are appeased by their offering, they are granted the dark powers they worked so hard to extract: control of the dead and extended life. The existence of the victim is then ended, only to be risen as a mindless creature that shall do any bidding that comes from those who consumed him.

Once members of the common races of the world, they are no longer recognizable as man or woman, just a mere reflection of what they once were. The remains of their skin tightly wrap around their bones. Their image is ghostly and often transparent; a dark mist cloaks them as they move and float along. They barely hold on to this world as their life has long since passed its expiration; and they forever seek to fuel their longevity. They are the true depiction of nightmares. These beasts are a plague to the world and are beyond unnatural.

Those who inhabit the deepest layers of Feigning Bog live in constant fear as members of their villages disappear from their homes during the night. They have cried out to the Empire for help but are insensitively ignored as their numbers dwindle. They hope for someone to end the hell that the Necromancers bring to their lives, but none wish to risk their lives on such a futile adventure."
