Just Another Journal~
Short Story
I asked her, 'Do you love him?' She suddenly blushed and said, 'Sadly, I still do." I asked him, 'Do you love her?' He suddenly rolled his eyes, and said, 'No, I do not love her any more'.

Then, I fathom, it wasn't love. It never was to begin with. It was lust not love. It's bizarre how one person always falls, more. While the other person does fall, but then, they forget everything within days and act as it nothing happened. This world is a mystery. People fall for each other. Then within days, weeks, or months one person swims out of what was once their ocean of love. And they leave the other person hopelessly suffocating.' -A.E

So, I'm wanting to write a short story. I've been wanting to write a little something but never found inspiration. I found this quote and suddenly I feel inspired. I may add a journal with this quote, but for right now I just want to make up a story. So here it goes.

Her phone buzzed, catching her attention. A smile spread across her lips. She rushed out of door and ran to her car. It was a cold winter day. It was raining hard and the wind faught against her, but nothing could ruin her day. She was going to see him. Her music blasted out of the speakers and she couldn't stop smiling. As her car came to a stop, she saw him. Her car fell silent as she hopped out, the rain hitting against her. She practically melted in his arms. They spent the day together, watching movies and drinking warm tea. They played board games and video games. That was how there relationship was, easy going and fun. They would spend days like that, in each others arms, followed by days apart.

That's why she didn't see it coming. She gave herself to him completely. He had her heart, he was the reason for her happiness, and he was the only thing that made her feel safe. For a while, she was his, too. He was weird that day, from what I can remember. She told me that he seemed different, but she worry too much about it. She just thought that maybe he was just stressed. That night he told her. That night he broke her heart. That was the night he confessed that he fell out of love.

He was fine. He quickly found himself someone to love again. He spent his days partying and making bad choices. He thought it was fun, he was enjoying himself. He would see her occasionally and when he did, he avoided her. I hated him for that. Not even a smile as they passed eachother on campus. It was almost as if they had never even known eachother.

She cried for a while. I remember it so clearly. She would wake up, shower, throw on some make up and put something on. She would come to class and she always looked so put together. But it always hit her that he was gone and she would cry. She would always run to the bathroom. But I always new she was crying.

Weeks passed like that until finally she felt numb. She couldn't cry anymore. She didn't really do much of anything for a matter of fact. She went to class, went home, and slept. That was what her days consisted of. She was such a strong girl. She kept up with classes, she kept up with her home life. It was her emotions that she let go of. And I couldn't understand it. I would rather her of continued crying than fall into that emotionless depression.

A few months had passed and it was spring. The year was fresh and life was beautiful. The trees blossomed and new life was sprouting. She was doing better. She was feeling things again. She cried every now and then, but for the most part she seemed happy. And that was all that I could have wanted.

I had looked at her one day. She seemed so carefree at the time. "Do you love him?" I asked her quietly. Her cheeks suddenly turned pink and she looked towards her hands. She was quiet for a moment before looking away. "Sadly, I still do" she smiled and I could hear the sadness in her voice.

He seemed so free at times. It was easy to approach him. "Do you love her?" I asked him bluntly as we stood in the hallway. He sighed and rolled his eyes before looking at me. "No. I don't love her anymore" he stated before heading towards class.

It was at that moment that I realized something. He never truly loved her. He let her give herself to him. He let her love him and he became her ocean. He was all she needed to survive unlike him. He always knew that he would leave her one day. He knew that it was fun while it lasted but that was all it was going to be. And when he left, he let her sink and she drowned in the emptiness. Her life fell upside down and she was broken, while he continued on and found his next victim.
