Prologue:
When he closed the door with the King was the last time I saw him. I promised him I'd look after Kairi for him and then I went back with her to the Destiny Islands, leaving my brother Sora behind. For the first few days it seemed odd. Not having Sora or Riku around, but somehow I accustomed myself to it.
I couldn't help but feel alone. I mean yeah I had the others, but it wasn't the same.
Though I'm not the one that likes adventure, I would have perfered to be out there looking for them.
A week passed and something happened....I kept fainting and having blackouts and soon I began to forget alot of things. I forgot about my brother and my thing for Riku and my adventures. It was hard to explain it and then I also realized that Selphie, Kairi, Tidus and Wakka all seemed to forget things too.
It scared me because I didn't want to forget. I didn't want to forget Sora. Riku or any of my adventures, but sure enough I did.
Then one night in my sleep I saw her......
The girl in white.
She was so nice to me, she sat with me every night and we talked as though we had known each other for ages. Weeks passed and everyday I waited for the darkness of night to meet my friend Namine.
One night my dreams took me to a quaint town bathed in twilight. It was pretty big and everyone there seemed so nice, I really like it. I wandered about in an aimless manner until I crashed right into a boy. He had deep blue eyes and blondish hair. The moment I knocked into him this random stream of unknown memories hit me like a rock. I began to remember things, like that I missed someone dearly and that I wasn't an only child.
The boy helped me up I stared into his glazed eyes. I couldn't tell if the same thing was happening to him. Then the idea of looking for someone hit me. Was I searching for this boy? Something in my heart seemed to be telling me no and yes at the same time and it made my head feel like it was ready to explode. I tried to ask him for his name but he didn't respond. He stood so still and didn't blink nor did it seem like he was breathing for that matter. I looked around and realized that everything had become still. Nothing moved not even the sound of birds echoed.....nothing.
Then I heard a voice calling for me. It was her! It was Namine!
I ran in the direction of the voice and found myself going through a small forest and ending up infront of a mansion. I stood before the door so hesitant to go in, but I had the urge to go in as well. It seemed like all my questions would be answered and if not all then maybe a few.
The place was old sorta abandoned looking. I walked in the musty hallways until I reached a certain door that caught my attention. I walked into the room and was blinded momentarily for the room was of the purest white, and then there was Namine sitting in a chair with her sketch pad in hand as always. I smiled so happy to see my friend again. She smiled at me and motioned for me to sit across from her so I did. "How are you Kyoko?" she asked. I shrugged, "I suppose I'm the same as always." (We always seemed to start our conversations like this whee )
She giggled and then set her pad upon her lap. "Well," she said in an urgent tone. "This has got to be quick. I have to tell you why I brought you here, instead of our normal meetings. Kyoko.....How far back can you remember?" she asked me with a serious look. I blinked I had no idea of what she meant. She must have read the confusion on my face for she spoke again. This time flipping through the pages of her sketch pad showing me a picture of a boy with chocolate colored hair and deep blue eyes. "How much can you remember about him?" She asked with a smile.
The boy seemed familiar to me. A name flashed into my mind "Sora" I then began to realize that I wasn't dreaming. That this girl was not a figment of my dream world she wasn't some person I made up because I was lonely. She was real and this place and the boy from before, it was all real. I was in so much shock from it all that I couldn't speak, but I managed to get up. "Who are you?!" I asked my voice shook with frustration, confusion and loneliness."I am Namine" she answered with such simplicity that I calmed down and sat once more. "Who is Namine?" I asked. She gave me a gentle smile and our conversation carried on like this.
Namine: "I am the witch in charge of Sora's memories"
Kyoko: "Sora?"
N: (she smiled) "That name rings a bell doesn't it?"
K: "Is he the boy I ran into?"
N: (She shook her head)
K: (I pointed to the boy in the drawing) That's him isn't it?
N: (She nodded)
K: "Well, what about the boy I ran into?"
N: "He's only a part of Sora, but don't worry about him, I have to bring you up to date."
K: "So something did happen to me?!
N: (she nodded again giving me one of her sweet smiles) "Yes and it's because of me that you forgot and for that I'm truly sorry. You see I worked for a group called Organization XIII. I was used to eliminate Sora's memories and in the process I got rid of yours and all who knew and met him.
K: "Okay? So I do now this guy....He's my.....he's my.......my"
N: (She giggled) "A relative....."
K: "He's my brother!!!"
N: (She laughed and nodded) "Right! I'm glad that somethings already seem to be returning to you."
K: " Namine? Are you trying to fix things? I mean why? Won't the Organization hurt you?"
N: (she smiled once more) "I don't work with them I work with someone else now. Well, come on close your eyes. When you wake up the memories of you brother and all events will be restored to you, but you musn't tell anyone on your island about Sora? Okay? They have to gain their memories on their own. Understand?"
K: "Okay but wait! Namine.....will we see each other again? I want to see you!"
N: "Maybe we will" (She gave me a sad look that told me otherwise)
K: "Namine...."
N: "Now, close your eyes. It's time to wake up"
I was then awakend by the constant sound of a voice telling me to wake up. When I awoke I saw my mother's face. "Kyoko sweetie, it's time for school" she said softly. So I got up, got dressed and then went to school.
That day after school I went to the islet where we all used to play. And those old memories came back to me. All the good times I had when we were little and then the whole adventure that took us off our island....and then the promise.
I remembered that stupid promise I made to my brother and a deep hatred began to sink in my heart.
See deep down I hated Kairi, I always hated her from the moment she arrived on our island. Everyone became so fond of her and forgot me. My brother and Riku didn't want to play with me anymore all they wanted was to spend time with Kairi. I even lost my best friend, Selphie to her. I know that it is wrong to hate people, but since she's made my life so miserable I can't say that I feel bad for hating her.
Now a year has passed I'm 14 and there is still no word of Sora or Riku. I have decided to go looking for them, but I made my promise to Sora, but I know that staying here will drive me crazy.
A few days later after school I went to the beach by my home and I saw something odd in the ocean. It looked like a massive blue ship. Curiosity got the best of me and so I waited for the ship to get to shore. Atop the deck was a girl dressed in black whom I recognized right away. It was Yukina, she was a girl I had met a while back in the Olympus Colisseum when my journey first began and she helped me find my brother too. I could only guess how she found the island but I didn't care I was so happy to see her. She smiled when she saw me and then jumped from the deck into the shallow water, she almost tackled me in her attempt to hug me. "I'd hoped I'd find ya! You have to come with me! I'm going to go find Sora!" she cried. Those shouted words were music to my ears, but then I hesitated. Would Sora be mad at me if I broke my promise? Would something happen to Kairi if I left?
You see my job is a guardian of the princesses of heart. To guard them I was entrusted with the heart blades, and since Kairi was the object of affection for my brother and a princess I promised him I'd look after her.
I was about to tell Yukina "No" but then another thought hit me. Why should I care? I know she'd be safe here waiting for my brother and if anything really fell in my favor she would dissappear. I smiled at the thought. I was savoring the idea when Yukina snapped me out of it with her voice. "So are you commin'? Better decide" she said while jutting her chin in the direction behind me. I turned and saw Kairi heading over. On impulse I shouted "Count me in!" and in a rush the latch of the ship opened and we ran up the ramp inside.
The last thing I saw as the door closed was Kairi running over.
In middarkness Yukina felt around and grabbed a phone like thing into which she spoke. "Wedge! Let's take this thing and go." :Gotcha!" came out a male voice. The floor beneath me began to shake and I stumbled a bit and looked over at Yukina. "Kina? What kind of boat is this?" I asked. I could see her smile at me in the dark before she turned away and walked through the corridor. "Boat? Girl! This is an airship!" she called back to me as I followed "And this puppy is going to take us anywhere we want!" she added with a happy tone as we approached a door. The door slid open to reveal an elevator we stepped in and Yukina told me how to operate it.
We then walked into the bridge of the ship. It had an awesome view of the outside on almost all angles. "Boys! Meet our newest addition!" Yukina called out.Four boyus walked over to us and said "Hi" one by one. "Welcome to the Wingbeat, I', Scipio the captain" said a boy with long dark hair tied in a low ponytail. He had sharp blue eyes like my brother. I heard Yukina mumble a "Pheh" to Scipio's remark and a boy with reddish hair and dark skin chuckled he seemed to be the oldest. "Hey how's it going? I'm Wedge" he said with a smile and then turned to a shorter boy with brown spiky hair and large brown eyes. "This is Riccio, our technician we call him Hedgehog." he added while the boy nicknamed hedgehog smiled and waved. Then the last boy looked at me and gave me a soft smile. He had platinum colored hair and soft gray eyes. "I'm Crispus, nice to meet you" he said while shaking my hand. "Crispy here is our cook" said Yukina. "And one awesome cook at that." added Scipio as he threw an arm around Crispus.
"Boys this is Kyoko, her brother is the Keyblade master, and we're going to go look for him" she said as she placed an arm around me. The boys all smiled and went back to their stations. Yukina spoke once more. "Wedge! Set a course for Twilight Town!" "Now wait a sec I'm the captian of this ship!" protested Scipio. "Hmmn? Oh well! I'm comandeering this ship until further notice!" said Yukina with a smile while she turned and gave me a wink. I giggled as she and Scipio argued....little did I know my own journey began.
