it seems like this is what we all seem to do,
set our eyes on some prize, some person we can't seem to live without

and they continue to live their life with such ease, without a second thought over you or me.

and we're all guilty of being that person, that person who lets someone wait in vain for us.

and you may have been that person i would've waited for,
but i'm done being a puppet on your string.

your silence has said all that was ever needed to be said.
you'd think after eight years of friendship, of a "love so pure" for one another,
you'd have the decency to at least apologize for failing to follow through.

but you've said all you've needed to say,
and i assure you that i've lost all desire to fight for you,
much like you lost all desire to fight for me.

we'll both trudge forward, seemingly unscathed,
because that's just what we do, isn't it?

i don't want to wait in vain for your love,
cause if summer is here
