ADHD
Staring at the page before me
Reading the line again and again
Not really focusing on the words I look over
Mental chains keeping still my pen
Work suffers from my distractions
Lost in thought, mind wandering
Not trying to ignore those around me
"What's wrong with you," my mind is pondering
"Why can't you just be normal?"
"Why can't you just focus on your task?"
"Why can't you do as you are told,"
"Without me again having to ask?"
"Why do you talk so much?"
"Why do you talk over me?"
"Why don't you just hush and listen?"
"You need to do better, can't you see?"
I know I can do better
More than you know, I do see
Caught in the moment, I do not
But hindsight gets the best of me
There are things I've said and done
Idiotic ideas and harsh words
Lapsed memories and accidental avoidance
My regrets as numerous as birds
My mind is a prison
I know I'm not alone
I have the support of those I love
Even if this conflict, I have not to them shown
I'll do the best I can
Fighting against my broken brain
It seems like an uphill battle
But my will, I can't let it drain
