Opening my eyes, I realized my head had been strapped down so that I was forced to look at Nogard and she at me. "Oh bloody ******** lovely!"
"It's no picnic staring at YOU either," Nogard growled having opened her eyes at the same time. "Someone has a sick, sick sense of humor."
"Are you sure it's not you?" I asked, grinning sarcastically.
"Oh grow the hell up," Nogard growled.
"And you can bite me," I said, testing the straps holding us down. When I put any sort of force on the red straps, an electrical current surged through them.
"That did fat lot of good," Nogard growled.
"Excuse me?"
"Tribal skull rose viking."
"Will you speak sense!"
"Cat lock succubus fairy!"
"Her synapsis have been thrown off by the electrocution, someone said from behind me.
"And are you the one who caused it to get thrown off?" I asked, rolling my eyes trying to see who was talking.
"Nope," the person replied, unlocking the straps. "I'm the one who's going to be saving your arses."
" 'Arses?' " Nogard asked as our rescuer threw straps across the table. "What the hell?"
"Exactly," the rescuer said, helping us away from the table. She had dark brown hair with blonde highlights, hazel eyes, and a spray of freckles across her nose--she had the attitude of someone twice her age. "I've got enough of a distraction going on for you two to grab Shal and get out of here before Corrigan notices you."
"I'm not helping her," Nogard said.
"You are to going to help Dragon," the girl said, glaring at Nogard. Turning the glare to me, she added, "And you will allow Nogard to help you."
Quailing under the glare, Nogard and I replied at the same time, "Okay."
"Good!" the girl replied, her smile revealing she had dimples. "Now if you'll excuse me, your guardian angel...person...has to go check on her distraction. Now remember, there is no 'I' in teamwork. You two will work together from this day on or I will come back and rip your spleens out through your nose!"
heart Before Nogard or I could react, the girl dissappeared.
Leaning over to me, Nogard said, "For a child-like human...she is quite scary."
"Indeed," I replied. "Let's not anger her and go do what she said and get Shal and get the hell out of here."
"Damn straight."
