I am a grown a** woman and tax season continues to be ******** daunting. I can't "just turbotax or h&r block or credit karma it bro" because they charge way too much for expat purposes and miscalculate everything. Left to my own devices, my expat tax situation has been incredibly vexing and isolating.
I just found out I unnecessarily yeeted my husband's passport across the Atlantic because my previous tax experiences were so grim I thought I was going to get raked over the coals for money unless we filed jointly. Apparently this is not the case and now the passport is with the IRS.
It'll come back...right? Right?
