Soon they made it through the passage into a large cavern.
In the cavern the walls were dimly lit by the natural crystals that hung in the air the walls and floors were mossy and filled with dead vines and other types of almost dead looking plants.
Yukina walked around looking around the walls for the next passage to go through but there seemed to be no way to continue. The only passge there was the one that led back to the outside. She looked to Kyoko and Sakuya who seemed to be staring up at the crystals and nothing else. The chocolate haired girl frowned and then walked over to them but a noise made her stop. She could have imagined it but no there it went again. An odd creaking noise of some sort.
Yukina: "Did.....did you two hear that?" she asked her companions in a hushed tone of voice.
Sakuya: She looked around almost petrified. "W-W-wh-what do you.......suppose it.....was?" she asked with a loud gulp.
Kyoko looked around then closed her eyes listening to the dead silence and soon the creaking noise resonated once more.
Kyoko: "Whatever it is.....It's beneath us" she said as she looked down at the ground.
Sakuya then tapped the tip of her staff with her finger and in an instant the whole cavern was brightly lit by the staff's light. What they saw when they looked down caused a scream to be stuck in Kyoko's throat.
The reason why there were many dead plants was to try and cover the creature that lay sleeping beneath a magical forcefield. It was a giant black serpentine creature with obsidian scales and onyx talons on it's two front tiny arms. On it's forehead was the gem inquestion. The gem was huge about the size of one's head and it shone a variety of colors. As the three looked around they could see darkness ebbing off the walls of the cavern. This creature was a heartless for sure.
Yukina:"Don't make a sound" she said in a low voice "Do not move" she added her voice was barely audible and yet it managed to hit her companions ears like thunder.
Sakuya: "Then how the hell do you propose we get out of this mess?" she snapped back at the brunette in a harsh whisper.
Kyoko: "Shhh" she looked down and then an eye flapped open and glared dead in her direction. Her eyes widened as the ground began to shake uncontrollably. The three fell to their knees and the barrier separating the three from the beast dissovled.
They fell and landed on a spot as the serpentine creature hoisted itself out and let out a massive roar. They then got up as the creature blew black fire from it's nostrils. The violet and ebony flames almost got them but the three jumped out of the way just in time. Yukina was the first to get up brandishing her giant sword.
Yukina: "Can't go back now!" she cried as she lifted her sword and ran at the creature
Kyoko ran to the other side her heartblades in hand as Sakuya jumped back and began casting protect spells on the three of them. An ebony tail swooshed past Kyoko's head making her bandana flap some. Yukina could be seen on the back of the heartless slashing left and right. Soon enough the three aimed for the heartless' head and then the gem flew out and the beast collapsed to the ground before turning into darkness and vanishing from sight.
Yukina leaned against her sword and looked at the other two who were just as beat. Kyoko made her way to the gem and picked it up. The multicolored crystal was extremely heavy, but her petite form managed to handle it all the same.
Then there was a screeching noise much like the one a microphone made
Scipio: "Yukina come in. What's taking you so long damn it?!"
Yukina: She picked up her walkie talkie and spoke. "Mission....accomplished" she managed to sigh out.
Back on the Wingbeat
There was a party going at full blast as the crew and hunters of the ship rejoiced in their first profit making treasure. Scipio and Yukina aruged on how the majority of the munny was to be spent and Sakuya sat not too far with her white plushie cat in hand and a drink in the other. Kyoko however sat in her cabin room looking out her small window. A sigh escaped those cherry colored lips as she continued to think about Riku and her brother. Where were they only stars in the heavens knew. She closed her eyes and imagined the surprised look on their faces once she would tell them the story and let out a soft giggle.
Kyoko:"If that won't impress you I don't know what will" she said aloud as she picked up her diary and began to write. "Dear Diary, Today we found our first treasure and let me tell you what an adventure that was.................."
