A few hours later, I realized that the pain in my hands, feet, and face were gone. While Lady Eirny was off gathering herbs, I unbandanged one of my hands to examine it.
The hand was covered in etchings of old scars with an overlay of the new scarring. As I was staring at my hand, a pair of black bone claws shot out of the backs of both of my hands. Before I could react, a black leathery tail shot out from the base of my spine.
Chibi, I thought wildly as I opened my mouth to yell.
KA-THUNKDT!My head snapping backward as some tiny green object buried itself into my forehead, I fell flat onto my back.
At Dragon's House
Sitting outside on the ruined porch, Holly stared curiously at Xangord.
"You have been doing that for the past hour," Xangord said over her shoulder. She was standing with her back facing the destroyed house. "What do you want?"
"Nothin," Holly said. "Except...to ask...how Riku and you are doing?"
Looking over her shoulder without twisting her back, Xangord asked, "How do you know of me and Riku?"
Before Holly could reply, several puffs of black smoke appeared.

Groaning, I sat up and removed the bandages from my head so I could feel the object in my forehead.
"Better shot den Ah hop'd fer," Lady Eirny said, stepping out from behind a large fern.
"What the hell did you shoot into my head?" I asked admist the fluxuating headache.
"A nullifier," Lady Eirny said. "Yer DNA is quite odd, Kendra. First t'were de horns poppin out of yer head; now it's de claws and tail."
"And until we know what or who I am," I finished, understanding, "you felt it'd be safer to put a--"
subdermal governor "--nullifier into my forehead."
it usually goes in the base of the neck"Aye," Lady Eirny replied, nodding. "Since ye look perf'tly fine, I sup'ose thee'll want some proper clothing?"
"Please," I said, plucking at my baggy shirt.
"Ye'll find some ol' clothes in de closet back in de cave," Lady Eirny said. "Help yer self."
Going back into the cave, and twitching my tail, I found the closet that Lady Eirny had mentioned. Although I found nothing I liked, I picked out a few articles that looked like they'd fit despite my...deformations.
After changing, I turned to the left and got a look at myself in a mirror--and took an instictive step backwards because of what I had saw growing in place where my ears should be. Reaching up hesitantly, I felt that the white ears with pink bottoms were indeed real ears.
"What in the world?" I whispered. Noticing a pair of glasses sitting on a shelf, I put them on because it felt right to have them; although they did nothing to dampen down the glare of the daylight. "Better...but it's still not right...."
