hokay. I said in last night's entry that I'd tell you all that gewd stuff that happened during the fair. SOOOOOOhereitis, day by day.
Sunday/Monday: Basically putting up decorations and stuff. Latus, educational junk, ya get the point. We also prepared the pens for the pigs- waterers, feeders, yanno. The werkz. :B I got to use a drill. O__O; Britty with a drill is a strange sight. I lewked lyk a carpenter. xD fo'realz. Took a while, but we eventually got it done. :3
Tuesday: Finishing up things we didn't finish the previous days, such as:
A: Putting up the blue ribbon decorations (we used them because of the fair's theme- Blue Ribbon Good Times)
B: Grabbing trivia facts and putting them up there, along with some pick-a-churs. Both came from this really rad Canadian pig website. :B
Tuesday was also the final weigh-in. My pig weighed in at 262 lbs (basically the perfect weight. I rock.) We got the piggies into their pens (which, surprisingly, wasn't too hard [[the first time I tried to get Mitzi into a trailer, she was scared to death of it and gave us a really hard time.]])
Wednesday: The first official day of the fair! Man, was it busy! O_O; It was also my first show- the Quality show (basically, the judge judges you on the quality of your animal). Kay, Imma rant about the pig judge right now.
<rant>
So, first off, he's extremely rude. Wanna know what he said to me? He said, "I'm giving this girl a present by giving you a red ribbon." And the worst part of it is, he talked to everybody that way. Really, you dont' go talking like that to anybody, especially 4H kiddos. Seriously, we work our butts off for months, for literally HUNDREDS of hours, and then we get slapped in the face like that. 4H is about learning and about fun. He sucked the fun right out of it. :/
Secondly, he did not touch a single pig, and he went around saying things like, "well, this pig's backfat is 1.2 inches." DOUBLE. YOU. TEE. EFF. I can understand that you can tell that a pig has a bit too much backfat by looking at it, but putting a NUMBER on it, without touching the pig is just... sheesh!
Really, you can tell us what's wrong with our hogs, but actually insulting people is just wrong.
</rant> Alrighty, I'm done. *deep breath*
Sooo, I ended up getting a sympathy red ribbon in quality (even though I got so many compliments on my pig. I really don't get it).
I went and saw the steer Quality show, because two of my friends have steers. It was fun, and the beef judge seemed SOO much nicer than the swine judge. >>;
My grandparents flew up from California for the fair! omgyay! <33
For our club's Heardmanship score (the score we get on how clean the animals, stalls, and alleyways are), we got a perfect 100! Oh yeah!
Thursday: The day of the Fitting and Showing show! Same judge as Quality, but he did better this time. When Mitzi and I were first allowed in the ring (along with all the other 13 year olds and their hogs), the judge came over to me and complimented me on how well my pig's tail and ears were clipped (this judge prefers those parts shaved/clipped), but he said she wasn't clean enough. Really, it's hard to get a pink pig clean! (next year, I'm getting a black or brown one). I got second place in my class, and a blue ribbon! The person who beat me deserved it. He had a bit more control over his pig, and his pig was a tad bit cleaner. Still, I'm proud of myself. whee Those 2-3 months of training with Mitzi paid off!
I went and saw the Fitting and Showing show for the cows, as well as the finals for cow Fitting and Showing. It was fun, and my friend was Top Junior Showman. >3
Our Herdsmanship score was an 88, because 2 girls (who are a bit on the lazy side) did not show up for their Barn Duty. -.-;
Friday: The free day for the 4H kids (which means that we don't have any shows. We still have barn duty, and we still have to have the stalls cleaned by 9:00 am). I mostly layed around the trailer, reading Stephen King's "Pet Semetary". Later on, I went to the rodeo. whee It was so much fun!
Herdsmanship score for the day was 98! chyush! >3
Saturday: Auction time... Mitzi was sold for $1.60 a pound (that makes about $419). emo Really, I almost wanted to cry. I really didn't want her to be sold.
Sunday: Today. :0 Nuttin' much going on. Today's the day the pigs (and the other stock animals as well) get loaded out... which is why I'm not there. I really just didn't want to be. I said my goodbye this morning, hosed down Mitzi one last time (she loves the water so much...) and gave her a big kiss on the snout before going school shopping with my grandparents.
That's the gist of it. :0
I'm glad to be back on Gaia, and I'm also glad that nuttin's changed. :/ Though I was hoping for a store update, but whatev.
Een utha newz...
I finally decided that it was high-time I played Final Fantasy VII and saw what all the hype was about. I ordered it off of half.com for about $60 (it's a hard to find game here in Idaho), and it should be arriving any day now. whee I can't wait to pop it into mah good ole PS2~ <33
It's official, I've gotten back into my Yugioh craze. xD Yes, I love Yugioh. Even the english anime. The manga ("season zero" wink rocks, though. <33 I've been drawing a lot of Bakura doodles. xD His crazy, gravity-defying hair makes me happy~ So does his voooooice. <3333
I totally figured out Paintshop Pro 9 (after a year or so of not knowing anything. *d'oh*). :0 Now, I know how to make lineart, and what tools to use to color, and how to use layers, and how to use the pen tool, and how to shaaaaade! <33 I feel so incredibly accomplished.
Well, that's just about it. :0 I'll wrap this up now, bois 'n' grls.
