A Random assortment of my thoughts on what I read and what I like (a lot of Star Wars).
Why Star Wars Rocks
Reasons why Star Wars rocks:
1. It changed the face of cinema for a good long while.
Although I wasn't born when this happened, it was a great thing for the movie industry. And there were some great toys that came with it.

2. The Books.
For those of you who haven't bothered to notice, there are (probably) close to a couple hundred Star Wars books out there for reading. THey either continue the story of the SW universe, tell background histories, or enlighten people about little-known details about the SW films, characters, and everything else. I do a lot of reading, so I know what I'm talking about when I give these recommendations:

The New Jedi Order series: Outstanding series written by many many authors. The first book is actually one of the worst in the series, so tough it out. The next few books are some of the best in the series.

The X-Wing series: written very well by one of the best (in my opinion) SW authors: Michael Stackpole. Aaron Allston, the other author, is also excellent.

I, Jedi: Again written by Michael Stackpole. This tells the story of Corran Horn, a CorSec (Corellian Security, policeman basically) officer who begins Jedi training but abandons it to find his wife. THis is a well-written story that shows a non-traditional Jedi in a very exciting atmosphere. Some very entertaining parts in this.

3. CONVENTIONS!!!
Where else can you find so many middle-aged men dressed up in robes carrying plastic lightsabers?! And NO ONE CARES!! That's the best part.

By the way, if anyone has any information about a convention in Illinois that's supposedly Star Wars related, leave me a PM, will ya?
Merci.

Liz out.
