Radical Dreamers
Ch. 2 A New Beginning


Years have gone by, and I am living alone among the city folk of my hometown as well as new faces. It's a lively city, and this is the town so called San Jose. It's a much more modernized place than where I was living as a child, technology everywhere. Since when I've arrived here, I've experienced many things. Cell phones, computers, and cars. These all seemed strange to me at first but soon I got used to them. Here is where my best and painful memories lie. Here I met the one and only girl of my dreams, Sophie Shimizu. I met her in high school, the high school called Independence High School. What I didn't know was that she was the same Sophie I went off of Dreamer's Island with. We have all six classes together and I feel in love at first sight…

“KYOSUKE YATSURA! Pay attention!”
“Oh yes Mr. Taylor, I'm so sorry!”
Everybody laughed, and I felt so stupid daydreaming.

“Oh, Kyo, if only you would use that brilliant mind of yours for school instead of daydreaming of what new inventions you'll make.”

Mr. Taylor, my English teacher, man I'm sick of him. Well anyways the bell rang and it was lunch.

“I got to talk to her! Got to talk to Sophie!”
“Hi Kyo! What's up!?”
“AH! Sophie! W-w-what are you doing here?”
“It's lunch dummy! I can't believe you! Don't you even recognize me?! We came from the same island that (Etalosed) attacked…I was at your birthday party before it happened!”
“Really its you? I mean I just don't really remember…Wait…Are you serious!? Sophie! I can't believe its you!”
“Yep!”
“Its great to see you again!” I told her as I hugged her.
“Kyo…You're…cutting the circulation of my breathing paths…”
“AH! Sorry! Umm, so what's up?”
“Well…”

And we talked throughout that day. Finally, the school year was over. We come back next year as seniors. Now Sophie and I are together now, but our relationship isn't like boy/girl, its more like brother + sister at the same time girl boy kind of thing.

“Kyo! Come on! You're slowing down! I've got only 2 more stores to go to!”
“*sigh* Ok, be right there babe…”

Man she shops and shops and shops! I would always almost pass out.
“Come on!” she said as she tugged me into the store.

”Tommy, Bryan, Jean, Thon, Hanh, and Sang, what are all of you doing here?”
Those are all my friends, but you don't need to know how I met them.
“Duh! You know just hanging out.” Said Bryan
“What are you doing here Kyo?” Thon blurted out.
“Umm, Well…”
“KYO! Come on! Oh hey guys!”
“Hey Soph…”
“Sophie hey! What's cookin good looking?” Sang interrupted Bryan.
“I'm shopping what does it look like?”
“Oh, sorry mistress! I didn't mean to make you bark!”
“Hey! Knock it off Sang, or I'll knock you back to Vietnam!”
“Ah, I was just kiddin man…”
“I see why you're here Kyo, well were off!” said Tommy
“Alright! See ya!”

They went off and I was stuck with Sophie for about 2 hours. Then I dropped of her stuff and kissed her good night. The next day I was awoken by a call from Sophie.

“Uhmn…Hello?”
“Kyo! Are you still sleeping?”
“Uh, not anymore…apparently.”
“Come on, lets go out!”
“Ok, ok I'm up I'll be there in about half an hour.”

I woke up and showered, got dressed, and went to Sophie's house.
“Kyooooo! How do I look? hee hee! She said in a sing song voice.
“Y-y-you look awesome…”

I mean really she looked really cute.
So umm, where do you want to go Sophie?”
“I was thinking along the lines of the park.”
Alright, lets go.”

She grabbed my arm and arm in arm we walked to the park and spent time playing around with little toddlers throughout the whole day. Later that day…we were sitting under the shade of a tree and relaxing.

“Kyo, I love you.”
“Huh? Oh, I love you too.”
“I'll never forget about you Kyo.”
“What makes you say that?”
“Oh nothing

I couldn't tell then that she was up to something. She was going to do something that will scar me for life, something that will hurt me. An unforgettable moment…

“Just hold me, I just want to hear your heartbeat. Good night Kyo…”

She fell asleep and I carried her home on my back. I opened her door and put down.

“Good night Sophie.” And I left.
