Even before the little human brat pulled me through the strange woman's portal, I knew that something was delightfully wrong with Dragon. Stepping through the portal, all thoughts of how I could gain control of the situation were forgotten as I saw the place betwen ends of the portal. [+1]

"What is this place?" I asked in awe.

"You can kind of think of it as a place between worlds," Holly said, tugging me along. "Pick up the pace, Nogard! If you don't, you'll be next!"

"Next for what?"

"I...don't exactly know...but it's bad."

Turning to the woman who looked like me, I asked, "And who are you?"

"Xangord."

"And what are you exactly?"

"Nobody."

"Nobody huh? You look like Somebody to me."

"I'll explain later Nogard," Holly said. "Just move it!"

On the other end, Holly rushed through the exit. Because she still had a hold of my wrist, she dragged me through after her. Behind me, I sensed Nissa and Xangord stepping through together. On the other side of the tunnel, I bumped into Holly because she had come to a sudden stop.

Looking over her shoulder, I saw a garden of statues. At the far end was a little old woman hefting a statue of an anthromorphic creature. Spotting us, she reached into a pouch on her belt and withdrew four green gems.

"Throw a shield up!" Holly yelled at me. "If those green gems hit us we're dead!"

"What are they?" I asked, constructing a fire shield at the last second. Running into the wall of flame, the four gems melted.

"They'll drain you and Xangord of your powers," Holly said. "They'll short out Nissa, and they'll kill me."

Shrieking, the old woman transformed into a harpy and flew at us.

"Xangord, use your damned whip!" Holly yelled. As Xangord lashed out with her whip, Holly and Nissa rushed over to Dragon.

Hearing a twig snap behind me, I spun around and faced some sort of 2-foot tall critter. For a moment or two, the creature and I stared at each other.

"Come on Nogard!" Holly yelled from the portal. "We need to get going!"

Turning, I saw that Xangord could barely hold the old woman back.

"Idiot," I muttered. Turning, I picked the creature up. As I rose to my feet, I released a torrent of fire that bathed the woman in flames. Grabbing hood of Xangord's hood, I pulled her through the portal.
