I'm actually here at university. It's pretty weird, I really don't feel like a university student... yet at least. I got here on Saturday, and things have been going pretty well. I live on the third floor of the building I'm in, so I'm trying to not be lazy and use the lift. On Saturday I didn't really do much. I got here, had dinner and then just looked around a bit. There was a pub crawl, but since I don't drink I figured it would be pointless of me going to it. Instead I just hung around the place, and eventually somehow ended up watching a rubbish movie on channel five with my neighber and 5 of her friends. We didn't stay for the end of it. xp
Yesterday seems like it lasted for ages, so I might have forgotten a lot of what happened. In the morning, I went to the reception to get passport photos from the machine, which was out of order. gonk The woman behind the desk told me to check the commonwealth pool next to the halls of residence to see if they have one, but they didn't. Instead, I had to walk for about 20 minutes to a shopping centre and get them there, then wander back. I then had to use them to get my meal pass, and for my fresher's week pass. I got my university card too, which along with my room key card makes 4 new cards in the span of 24 hours. Way too many cards, if you also include my bank card, top-up card and some other card I had in my pocket that I can't quite remember. Anyway, after all that I missed brunch (Or I thought I had, I'm not sure though) so I went to my room for a bit and munched on pringles, miniature heroes and gummy sweets. domokun
I can't remember what I did after that, but eventually it was dinner, where I met a few more people; one called Sarah from Inverness, another called Hannah from Preston (Though I had no idea where that was...), and Aileen, who is from somewhere around Berwick. There was also Thomas, who is actually Bulgarian (though I didn't find this out until later) but went to America for a few years before coming here. At some point I also met Lauren, who just so happened to be in my brother's girlfriend's class at school. Anyway, later on in the evening, I went to a "beach party" with Sarah, Hannah and Aileen, though I sneaked along with the people in their building (Their helper guy seems a lot more interesting than ours). We went to a pub first though, where I met this really crazy girl (or she seemed it) called Fran. I think she said she might stalk me... gonk
The beach party wasn't really very beach-ish, other than that some people were wearing hawaiian shirts (I don't own any). It was pretty fun, though I think I might have been the only sober person there. I even danced (or tried to) a little! There were some annoying people though, who just pushed through without even tapping on your shoulder to say that they were wanting through. PLUS there was some guy with who I assume is his girlfriend doing stuff (I'm not sure what exactly they were doing, but they were right behind me snogging. gonk ) We left at about 1:30am to go back.
This morning I was pretty shattered. I got up at about quarter to nine, after falling to sleep at around 3. I had been reading the student magazine that I got free with my fresher's week pack before sleeping, and also someone had ran along our corridor knocking on all the doors (Though I didn't see who it was). I met someone else called Ben then, who's studying medicine. It's a bit awkward to have another person with the same name only two doors down the hall, but Lauren seems to call him Dr. Ben, which helps with the name similarities. xp I went to breakfast and met someone from Jordan who's also on my floor but quite a bit farther down (I don't think I should try to spell his name, since it'll probably be wrong.) and someone called Michael from Holland (And is staying in Holland House too...). He looks VERY similar to someone from my school. After breakfast I kind of just looked around a bit more. I eventually got onto a computer in the microlab with a lot of struggling to find my password, and stayed in there for a while along with registering my laptop to be connected to the network (Which will hopefully be in place by tomorrow).
Just an hour or two ago, I also went to the Fresher's Opening Ceremony. However, I got a little lost and found out I had went too far. So, I ended up slightly late. I can't really remember much of what they said, other than things I had already read in my fresher's pack. I went with Lauren and Jack (Someone else on my floor, who actually coincidentally owns a house in my hometown!) to a poster sale, but didn't buy anything. I then came back to here and dropped off the 20 million leaflets that we get given out on upcoming events. gonk I'm thinking about going to the Teviot tonight to see what's going on; apparently they have two members of Goldie Lookin' Chain DJing or something...
Sorry, I didn't know I could type so much. sweatdrop
