First I'd like to say that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but that people opinions usually come from experience and favoritism.

To be neutral on the issue, I'd like to give a little history. I use to smoke, my parents smoke, a lot of my friends still smoke, and my boyfriend quit because I don't anymore.

I quit smoking because it was impeding on my process to get done what I needed to get done in my life. I noticed that I was more irritable than I use to be because I was looking for the next time when I could get high. It was a huge focus in my life because it is addictive. Pot is a drug that alters your state of mind. It isn't as harsh as some other drugs out there. However, it does have it side effects like all drugs out there.

My boyfriend quit because I wouldn’t want to be around him due to the temptation which put a strain on our relationship. I also disliked the way he talked to me and was unable to carry a normal “understanding” conversation when he was high. His whole state of mind changed and he was no longer able to even comprehend half of what I was trying to tell him or anyone else for that matter. What was so frustrating is that I didn’t realize it was this bad until I stopped smoking. I would have never noticed if we were both high. It was a scary wake up call. So, in the end it was his choice to quit. He told me after 5 years of smoking he noticed after a couple months of not smoking that it was like “a cloud” had been lifted off of him and he could see the world around him more clearly. He also realized then that he really wanted to do something more with his life. He still smokes every now and then. He says that when he does, it doesn’t seem worth it because it reminds him of how his life use to be which wasn’t as good as it is now.

I really believe people who smoke have that cloud that skews a true vision of what it does to them. But I’m sure a lot of people would disagree. It does what a drug is supposed to do, change you. And I would like to add it is usually not for the best. But, I don’t think smoking pot is something to hate someone for or even criticize them for. I believe this because people have a choice and the right to make their own choices. I was just strong for myself and made my choice and it isn’t my right to force it on anyone.

On a side note, the fact that pot can be prescribed by a doctor is fine. A doctor has the authority to do that; however, it doesn’t mean that the general public should accept it because it’s used for medical purposes. Nor should they use it if it isn’t prescribed to them for pain. Yet people will do it and that will always be the case, but it isn’t a good argument for the use of it.
