He was one of those who were banished from the heavens in which the Flaurians danced. His kind was sent to live in the darkness of the earth and that in which was below it, an abbess as dark as pure night and as hot as a volcano. Those who were banished vowed to do all in their power to slay every last one of those who cursed them. He was an elite assassin and a warrior in which he served the darkness. His soul mission was to wonder through the world and root out all descendents of the Flaurians.
Both have been born and reborn several times since the old days. She was a priestess in training in modern Tokyo, Japan. He transferred into her school after finding out what she was. She had no idea as to what she really was. He eventually became friend with her, and soon enough she started to care for him, but he was always so cold towards her as far as the matters of love was concerned.
As time passes strange things start to happen. Demons from the world below start attacking the girl. At first she thought it was an omen of ill tidings, but then she saw him standing amongst the demons, his eyes glowing red. Her heart broke and she gave herself up to the demons. It wasn't until the boy had her unconscious form in his arms that he found that he had feelings for her as well. But it was but a passing thought in his mind and he took her to be sacrificed and drained of blood and life to resurrect their demonic lord. As the boy stood waited while the others prepared for the ceremony, he felt a pang of doubt inside of him. Glancing over at the girl chained to the wall in the white ceremonial gown, he noticed something. She wasn't glaring at him or crying. She was staring at him with such pain in her eyes, and above that pain was understanding. He didn't understand. She should be scared, or angry, or crying her eyes out begging for mercy. But she was just standing there quietly while the chains cut into her wrists and neck. Then it hit him. He couldn't let this happen to her, for he recognized one more thing in her eyes. Forgiveness... and he, who had betrayed her heart and friendship and would have thought to be a fool to think that he could be forgiven, and yet she did. She of all people forgave him. And he finally understood what she was saying with those eyes. I love you. That was what she was trying to say. And it was at that time that he realized that he too loved her.
A bell sounded and a beat of drums followed after, playing the requiem of her death march. He had little precious time to comprehend what was going on or what he was going to do. But he took it. With a nod to the demon minions, he signaled that he’ll be bringing the girl after he prepares her for the ceremony. She looked up questioningly at him and then saw something shining in his dark eyes. It was the same thing that was reflecting in hers. Though it was just a glimpse of it, she understood and gave the barest of smiles, just a slight lift of the corners of her mouth. He unchained her and was releasing the cuff around her neck. The act alone looked like he was embracing her, so he took that short moment to kiss her neck and whisper the words that she had longed to hear. I love you too. The tension in her body left with the utterance of those words. She was ready for whatever was to come now and she knew that no matter what was to happen that she’ll be in peace.
As he walked her in he shifted his blade, so that her body hid it. He had returned her blades to their rightful owner and now were resting in the small of her back, which flowed out into a sweeping gown. They were ready this time. And with their hearts united, they would defeat this enemy, because not even death would be able to hinder their love. As they drew closer, one of the demons noticed she wasn’t in chains any longer, and sent the alarm. The battle was to be a tough one, but neither one, not the boy nor the girl, were afraid any longer.
