stare Tonight is the lovely Homecoming dance for my school. Naturally, I'm without a date, and I think my friends might have bailed on me because I can't seem to get a hold of them. I'm wearing one of my sister's old dresses (despite her complaints that if I wore it, I would look like her ghost or something since she graduated last year), but I'm actually ok with that because I feel guilty when I spend mum's moola and I don't care that much.
I think I will rant about the Homecoming Parade on Thursday: Our Freshman Princess (my class) showed up late, and we were sort of frantic. Well, everyone else was. I was pissed because HOW DO YOU NOT show up for an event that you don't deserve to be in but are.
Speaking of that, a friend and I were commanders of the entire floatbuilding session. The others just stood there with their mouths open like fish and we had to tell them what to do. A bunch of them even went outside to socialize and canoodle with their boyfriends and not do any work at all. I felt like throwing everything down and screaming at them to do the *bleep*'in work themselves.
And I don't even understand why the people who were voted for Homecoming Royalty were so. Just because they're pretty (in some cases, they weren't) and flirt with everyone doesn't make them monarchy material. It's a good thing they didn't have any power or they'd end up putting 'Princess ME!' signs all over the school.
Let me digress one more time to explain. Several hard workers one float-building evening were painting a sign that said Freshman Prince and Princess and the Princess (who incidentally wasn't doing a single thing at the time) came up to them and asked them to put her name on the sign. But she wanted them to do it. When they refused, she waited until they were done with it and then painted her name on it anyway and spent the entire evening glittering it up.
I used to like her, but that little episode really made me realize that the preps are all the same.
Maybe I'm jealous...I certainly am vain enough to be so, but the people who were voted were self-absorbed, idiotic, brainless twits who only got to where they are because they're pretty and can flirt. They're like flirt prostitutes. One girl who I thought was my friend made it into the nominations, but then I was seriously disappointed in her when during the float-building, she went off and canoodled with her boyfriend the entire night.
How am I supposed to live with these freaks for another four years? I hope they drop out. They'd better drop out.
