Halloween Story
One day my father went out with some of his friends up near Tarrytown. At the time, he was in his twenties and a bit of a joker. They had left from a retreat on allapartus road where he was treasurer. He was in charge of the group that was up there to do work on the buildings at the retreat.
My father had agreed to take them to a nearby cemetery. Of course, my father knew a lot more about the cemetery than they did, like how creepy it could be. He led them down the dark road late that night. There first goal was to get to the bridge that crossed over to the cemetery. The fog was low and thick as they followed my father closely across the bridge. As some of them reached the ground across this bridge, others began to shriek in a horror. What felt like hands were grabbing at their ankles and they felt as if they were being pulled down under the bridge.
The corpses wanted them to replace them to take their place in the graves. My dad and his friends became frantic as they ran back. The only reason they figured this out was the others were pulled toward the graveyard and than their screaming finally stopped. They pushed the tombstones out of their way and on to some of the corpses so they could not reach out after them. Most of them made it out alive.
After that, the story was told many times. However, the story changed a little bit too much every one of those times it was told. So perhaps you are not hearing the truth in full, I suppose I would know a little better than most.
