Creating stereotypes.
If stereotypes didn't exist then people wouldn't be shocked to see a Goth wear bright pink,
or see a tomboy wearing make-up.
Or to see a jock writing poetry while they're sitting on a bench during a game...

If people were not afraid of what others think of them. People could have a wider range of capabilities. emo

In other words if stereotypes didn't exist people could be more themselves that they think they are.
