I put on a cheerful smile When you are near A smile on my face A laugh in my voice When you are gone my heart weeps I cry the tears, their from my heart You do not see the tears I cry Only my smile At times I feel the need to cry These feelings that I cannot hide you ask me what is wrong my love I answer with a nothing much You wonder if you caused the problem I feel a pain when I hear that thought Old instincts tell me what to do Run away and hide yourself Do not fight it makes it worse I try to fight the thought of it For you are more important Fearful for I walk in the dark Unsure of where to go But you live in the darkness Protected by it's shadows So I take your hand and follow For you are now my light Though my heart's path is still untread And I get lost at times I hope that you will be with me And never leave my side
