"Who are you two?"

"You can call her...Litch," the one wearing black and red said, pointing at the other.

"You can call her...Scuro," the one wearing white and blue said, pointing at the other.

"Um, okay," I replied as I was settled onto the back of Scuro and Shal was put on Litch's back. "That isn't what I meant and you two know it."

"We can't tell you who we are," Scuro said. "It'd blow your mind."

"And we need your brains working at full compacity," Litch said.

"Why...?"

"For the same reason that it is impossible for us to take you all the way back to Dragon's home," Litch said. "It would cause a tear in the temporal space-time continuum that would reverberate across many alternate realties."

"Why would you guys going to Dragon's house be a problem?" I asked. "And how do you guys know Dragon? Or me?"

"Forget about it," Scuro said. "For now, we need to get you two as close to Dragon's house as possible."

"And do not tell anyone about us," Litch said.

"It would be very bad," Scuro said.

Groaning, Shalimar hugged Litch and mumbled, "Ikkit..."

After a moment's pause, Litch said, "I am not the one you know. Sleep and heal for now."

"You should sleep too," Scuro said to me.

Before I could argue, I suddenly yawned wide enough to pop my jaw. "Sleep would be good."

As I dropped off, I saw Scuro and Litch look at each other in a way that was disturbingly familier.
