I bit my lip and stepped out from under the overhang. More rain. I smiled as passerby ran past, covering their heads with newspapers or umbrellas. I pulled out my old hat and pulled it on. It didn’t rain often here, but it had a lot in the past few days. I shrugged, might as well enjoy it while I could. I pulled off my shoes and socks, setting them next to a tree on the sidewalk. The street I was on wasn’t busy, only a few cars driving by every few minutes. I stepped onto the slick asphalt, it was quickly growing cold. I didn’t mind. I had gone enough months without shoes. I went out to the middle of the street, closed my eyes, put out my arms and started to spin in circles. I started to enjoy myself and laughed. I stepped into a small pothole and shrieked. The people walking past just growled, too absorbed with themselves to notice a young girl dancing in the rain. One man did stop though, he wore a straight black business suit and held nothing but a newspaper. Hw watched me with a puzzled look on his young face. After a few moments of watching me, I stopped and waved to him. He nodded and continued walking. I shrugged and continued to dance. A wave of dizziness hit me, and I stumbled. I tripped and fell onto my hands. Looking up, the buildings and people blurred, spinning faster than I had been. That was the last thing I remember.
