Anjay bolted up from her bed in a cold sweat. The end of the nightmare waking her with a start. She was hyperventilating at first, but her breath slowly deepened. She closed her eyes and fell back on her pillow. After a few minutes she flung the covers off and slipped out of bed. She blindly reach into her drawer and pulled out some clothes, deftly, she put them on. Anjay then went to the bathroom and splashed cold water over her sticky face, rubbing it dry with her sleeve. When she looked back in the mirror, she saw a little girl looking back. She quickly turned her head away as her face grew warm. The lump in her throat was growing and her eyes started to sting. She decided to stay in the attic for a while longer…she didn’t want Marie to see her cry. She didn’t want Marie to see any emotions. Marie was her step-mom, the classic evil step mother you hear about in fairytales, only this one was real. No matter what emotion Anjay showed, Marie would make it horrible for her. If Anjay showed happiness, or anything pleasant, Marie would make life harder for her, with more work, rules and all of that. If Anjay was sad, or mad or some such thing, Marie would be content, smug, and rub it in Anjays face, making her work harder and more painful. Whenever Anjay was at home, she had to be indifferent.
Anjay sat in her room as she cried and thought about her lost father. As she was in the middle of a muffled sob, she heard a familiar voice behind her. “I thought I might find you here.” it said. She spun herself around and, there was her best friend in the world. “Celestial?” she whispered. “Why of course it’s me silly! Who else would it be?” Anjay was speechless, she had not seen Celestial in many years, since she was about seven actually. Celestial disappeared with all of Anjays childhood, for Celestial was Anjays imaginary friend. Why would she choose now, with Anjay barely fourteen, to make her reappearance? Anjay suddenly looked at the ground, “Go away.” she spat. Celestial was awestruck. “Why Anjay? We are best friends! I’ve always been there for you!” “ALWAYS? No! You were never there for me! You disappeared whenever I needed you most! I took the blame for you! I was always there for you! It’s not the other way around!” The words fell like rocks from Anjays mouth. “Disappeared? How can anyone disappear?” Celestial inquired thoughtfully. “Easy,” retorted Anjay, “you are no one, a mere figment of my imagination, you don’t exist, you aren’t real, you aren’t even my friend, I don’t have any friends.” the still air grew heavy from the words. Anjay stared intently at the ground, she refused to look at Celestial. She would have normally given anyone else in this situation a long, cold, hard stare, but she couldn’t look at Celestial. She was in deep envy of her old friend.
Celestial still hadn’t changed, aside from getting bigger, and older, she looked the same. Her pale, almost white skin that seemed to glow unnaturally, with her light blonde hair, that shone pale in the dim light of the attic, her soft sky blue eyes twinkled as she looked fondly at the world. She looked like a child of the heavens, hair of the sun, skin of the moon, eyes of the sky. Her dress, was of course, pale white and baby blue. Soft silk and satins. It had a very medieval look to it. She was indeed a princess from a far off land and time.
Celestial looked on quietly, not knowing what was happening. She didn’t realize that time had passed, for she came on call from Anjay. Anjay was the reason she was here, even if neither of them realized it. Celestial moved with soft steps and sat next to Anjay on the bed. Her skirts rustled quietly and she put her thin arms around the crying teenager. Anjay couldn’t help but fall into the gentle embrace, she knew she needed Celestial now more then ever. Celestial stayed still for as long as was needed, then she stood up and commanded Anjay, “Anjay, no more of this silly argument, no more crying now either, time to get dressed. We have work to do, and a try out to go to. Put on some decant clothes right this instant!” Anjay stiffened and opened her mouth to retort, but gave in and moved to the dresser. She pulled on some light jeans and an old sweater with only one hole in it. Celestial brushed her hair for her, like when they were kids. They always played princess, and Celestial insisted on being the lady in waiting to Princess Anjay. Anjay was feeling better, and let herself fall into the belief that everything was okay, and she was only seven again. She wanted to stay there forever, but had to leave, when Maria walked in.

hmmmmmmm...I wrote more then I thought....oh well

I'm so glad you are continuing this story. So far I really like it and I hope you finish it.

I'm really sorry that I lost your edited versions when I tired to fix your computer. Please forgive me?

Mom
