As I was traveling through the forest, I started to notice that Daraude was following me. He must have underestimated how well I can hear and sense him, because he's much louder then any one has ever been while tracking me...What a silly man...must be very bored.
Well, I finally decided to confront him about a few hours ago. I picked up Lunethia, and quietly told her to hold still and make no noise, I then quickly climbed up a tree and rested on a branch not too high off the ground but not low enough for a mans eyes to easily meet.
After about an hour of waiting I heard his loud footsteps. I lowered myself onto another branch, and just as he passed, jumped down and put one of my daggers to his throat from behind him. "People shouldn't be wandering these woods as careless as yourself." I whispered quietly into his left ear. I could feel his muscles tense up and the hairs on his neck rise. I turned him around so that he was facing me and laughed at him.
"Daraunde, what are you doing??"
"Oh my Gods and Goddesses..I thought you were going to kill me!" He looked at me then looked down out of embarrassment. "I umm...I thought that you might get lost or umm...robbed or something..." His cheeks were flushed and his eyes dug into the ground. I tilted my head back and laughed aloud.
"I don't need your help Daraunde, I'm perfectly capable of finding my own way...and as for a theif, I'd kill him in an instant.." I smiled at him and he slowly looked up at me.
"Please let me come with you..." He looked at me with pleading eyes. I looked away, but then looked back at him again.
"Daraunde...I haven't been perfectly honest with you...I'm not going on some simple vacation...I'm finding a man...so that I can kill him." I looked at him with a stern gaze. His eyes grew wide and the corners of his mouth started to sink down.
"I...umm...." Just at that moment Lunethia came out from behind the tree and looked up at Daraunde, she shot a glance at him then bared her small teeth. "A homonculis!?" He started to walk over to Lunethia but she ran over by my side and took cover under my cloak. "Was this the thing that was wrapped up in cloth at the Inn?" He asked me.
"Oh...Lunethia? Yes, yes it was...I didn't want her to attract unwanted attention."
"Smart of you, if people saw her in the city, she would have been stolen and sold for a high price..." I looked down at Lunethia and smiled.
"She's safe with me though." I looked at him and saw a gentleness in his eyes. "Daraunde...my real name is Nalarem. I'm sorry I lied to you, but I couldn't trust you, not yet." I smiled at him and he smiled back at me.
"So I can join you?!"
"You still want to!?"
"Of course, nothing like an adventure!" He laughed and so did I.
