.:~*~:.
They were lost. And by they, it ment Miaka and Deidre. They got seperated from Tamahome in the shrine of Suzaku. After considering her options, Deidre chose to go with Miaka; for two reasons. One, the bubbly headed teen's nose would lead them to food. -she was still hungry, y'know. And the other was obvious. Miaka doesn't get apprehended by a flock of guards! Poor Tamahome. She only felt the slightest remorse for leaving him stranded in the palace halls.
'All that trouble leading us from the dungeons and he's going to be caught...' She made a small promise to pay him back for any extra suffering he'd experience on her account.
"Psst, Miaka! Pass me a dumpling." The small bun was thrown unceremoniously toward her. She caught and nibbled on it while she watched Miaka, most amused. She was glad she managed to ask for something before the girl wolfed down everything in sight.
They were currently hidden under a serving table, it's cloth hiding them from being discovered. The girls were going to have to make their get away soon, before the staff noticed a rapid decline in entres...
.:~^~:.
Well, at least they made it out from inside the palace with little trouble. Deidre finally managed to tear the gluttonous schoolgirl from the kitchens. They now loitered behind a corner of the palace court, hesitantly checking for anyone who happened to be nearby that could get them caught. Miaka entered the courts, stretching.
"Aaaah, I'm stuffed! You gotta hand it to some real chinese food! By the way Deidre, Tamahome-"
"We lost him."
At the quip from D, Miaka started flailing, popping all over the courtyard in distress at the realization that they were quite lost after wandering about the palace. Deidre unsuccessfuly attempted to quiet her down before they attracted any unwanted attention, trying to coax the girl into staying calm.
Movement from the walkway along the walls caught the girls' attention and they ceased movement to stare at the beautiful woman dressed in a simple yet elegant lilac robe.
"You're lost aren't you?" She addressed, delicate brown eyes softening with a gentle expression. The woman's arm gracefully lifted to point across the court to an off-side direction. "The gate's over there. You can get out."
Miaka faltered before quickly offering her thanks and made to take off in the selected direction. Deidra made no move to follow her; she was too busy studying the mysterious lady on the banister. She caught a glimpse of the dressings under the light robes, noticing the bright colors of the familiar courtly sort. Of course the secret identity of this woman was quickly remembered. She must admit.. this person's beauty did go unmatched. The woman's gaze followed Miaka after a quick curious glance to Deidra. She wavered in her composure, blushing silently and made to quickly take after Miaka.
"You're the girl they captured before, aren't you?" Her eyes sparkled knowingly, taking the time for a pause. She noticed the stiffened reaction of the girls, Miaka especially. "It seems that you are.. is it true that you were rude to his highness?"
Miaka started laughing nervously,
"What are you talking about? We're just a couple of middle-school friends passing through! Just taking a walk is all." Deidre pulled her friend away, continuing to make their way to the gate.
"Of course! Anyway, bye now!"
"Don't worry. I'm on your side. I won't call the guards after you. So, please relax."
She immediately dropped her friend's arm, dusting her hands off exaggeratedly and wandered over purposfully toward the woman. "R-really?" Miaka eyed her wearily. Deidre smiled as-a-matter-of-factly. Of course.
~^~
Not a hundred yards from where the girls were, Tamahome was being pursued after by a handful of armed guards. Things weren't looking so hot for him...
~^~
"So you want to find your friend?"
"Yeah.. we got seperated from him.." Deidre shot Miaka a look. It was her fault for listening to her stomach before her head. The glare went unnoticed, however. Miaka hung her head as they walked across the courtyard, "He was thrown into prison on my account.. if I don't get him out, I'll never be able to go back to my world."
'Ah. There it is.. ' Deidre stood silent, studying the changing expression of the court person. Her own expression remained passive. So Miaka did realize she was in the entirely different world from her own. It answered D's previous inquery, anyway. No one's made a deal out of her own presence yet.. she wondered with a hint of worry how that was going to go. She absent-mindedly clutched at her wand still inside her robe protectively. Perhaps it was time she started figuring out a plan for an explaination. Not to mention what she was going to do about getting back to Hogwarts...
