An interview with DB.
This is an interview I've done for a guild I'm in. I didn't do it because I was asked to, but because I wanted to. DB is the creator of an avatar comic series called, "Another Avi Comic".

I've gone a PM'd DB like most of us here in the guild would. But this was not your general "Hi-how're-ya-doin'" PM, this was stricly on Buisness. The request came off as unusual to DB, but was accepted nonetheless. (No, I did not convince him to put me in a comic) I asked him for an Interview. This is what it resulted in. (Questions in bold.)

Matt: Firstly, how long have you been making these comics?

DB: Another Avi Comic? about 2 years off and on. Mostly off.

Matt: Are there any other projects you have been working on?

DB: Dragon Riders, it's a 3D comic that I recently started working on, Staring an inept knight and his dragon mount.
A self named comic, Dragon's Blood, based on the adventures of a party of Dragon hunters. This is still in the development stages.
Other things are just normal art projects, drawing/painting what ever comes to mind.

Matt: Which would you say is the best, or your personal favorite? Or do you, as Strong Bad once stated, think of your comics as "Your childrens, thus you love them all"?

DB: I'll have to go with the Strong Bad thing. I enjoy all my works for their individual appeal.

Matt: You have a guild for your "Another Avi Comic". Are you planning on releasing your other comics on gaia and making guilds for them, or are you going to place links to them in the guild and post them elsewhere?

DB: My other projects have nothing to do with gaia or their avatars, and will probably not even be mentioned in the forums unless specifically asked.

Matt. I see.

Is there a specific type of music you like to listen to while creating, or do you even listen to music at all?

DB: Depends. I listen to a wide range of music. I listen to a lot of classical music. Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, and so many more. I enjoy orchestras more then anything else. I do how ever also love some good heavy metal. Or joke songs, like from Weird Al Yankovich and others like him. Mostly it is the Symphonies though.

Matt: Awesome.

Which of your characters from "Another Avi Comic" do you find yourself similar to, and which one is your definite opposite?

DB: I'm the most like Sage. I'm least like Damion.

Matt: Really? How so?

DB: Sage is friendly fun loving type, quiet tempered but still can get pretty mad. Damion on the other hand is always mad.. always annoyed.. always angry.

Matt: I see. Have you read the comic suggestions thread in your guild? Are there any suggestions you agree with?

DB: Yes, I make time to read everything people suggest. I, however, do not like any of the current ones.

Matt: Such as my idea (About the roast)?

DB: All of them.

Matt: Well that’s good to know. At least we know you care enough to read our suggestions.

How many friend requests/PMs/Can-I-Be-In-Your-Comic requests do you get on average?

DB: Since I started the guild and people know that their posts won't get buried, the number has decreased greatly. I use to get 50 -60 PMs a day. lately I get about 50 a week now. No one has asked to be in the comic (seriously asked. though their pretend "can I be in the comic? Just kidding" is just as annoying) in months now. And friendlist requests were always low and always declined.

Matt: Any advice you would give someone who is thinking about starting a comic (In terms of what program they should use, storyline, etc.) ?

DB: write it down.. Don't just let ideas come as you do it.. write what you want to happen down.. and go from there... that way you have a clue the dirrection you are going with the comic and not just totaly random.

Matt: Okay. And what program would you recommend for creating the comic?

DB: Which ever program you know best. I use Photoshop because I own it, if I didn't have it, I'd use Paint Shop Pro (cause I own it too)

Matt: Okay.

What makes you laugh out loud?

DB: stuff that is funny.. good jokes, sarcasm, comedy skits, prat falls, the normal stuff.

Matt: About how often do you change your avatar?

DB: normally Daily. Sometimes 3 - 4 times a day.. Though sometimes I won't change it for a while because I have other things to do, longest I've ever had a single look was a week.

Matt: How often do you recieve comics from others (Guest comics, fan art comics, etc.)?

DB: It's been about a year since I was given a comic from anyone. A month or so since I've been asked my opinion on their comics.

Matt: Who is the character Shadow_dreamer? And why haven't we seen her?

DB: Shadow_Dreamer is a friend on Gaia who has been a fan of my comic since the very first one, she is also one of the people who first incuroaged me to make the whole series in the first place. I told her she would never be seen in my comic, but As a Gag, and homage to her and what she's done for me, I added her by name only in the comic with Nina. It has since become a sort of fun joke her friends play on her, with them ocationally saying they are watching "shadow_dreamer gone wild".

Matt: If you could use one word to describe your characters, what would you choose for them? (Individually, I mean.)

DB: Problem with that is, I Can't use just one word for effectively describe my characters. Even just Tuma'el; I could say insane, but he's deliberately crazy while in fact he is very intelligent and cunning. One word would only be one tiny aspect of who they really are.

Matt: Even Nina?

DB: Even Nina. 3nodding

Matt: Wow. I thought Nina'd be the easiest.

Speaking of which, what are all the other characters doing? You seem to be focusing on only one section of the story. Who knows, maybe there's an attack on the house, maybe Nina's got a secret admirer who plays "Heart-Shaped Box" on nights when it's calm, and she sits on the balcony listening.

DB: It would be impossible to show everything that is going on with every character all the time. Just assume that when they are not involved, they are not doing anything important to be shown.

Matt: Okay. Thanks.

Are there any other non-gaia comics or webtoons you enjoy viewing, like "Boy on a Stick and Slither", or "Homestar Runner", etc?

DB: Haven't checked out the links thread in my guild have you? Every last one of those webcomics are something I myself read regularly. And I'm always adding more to my list (some I can't show on gaia at all too)

Matt: I'm rarely on as it is, so I don't check the guild as often as I used to. But I've just gone and checked. You've got some that I've read on there, some I've seen as well. That's good.

(Here's a few links for you, give them a try.

www.boasas.com (Boy on a Stick and slither)

www.homestarrunner.com (Homestar Runner)

www.bonusstages.com (Bonus Stage and The Stupid Adventures of Marc an' Tony))

Which was the most difficult comic for you to have made so far?

DB: I'll save the links and check them out laters. Thanks.

The most difficult to make? It would have to be "Conflict - Final" I had to build a whole planet, and a satallite, AND get the cannon blast from the satallite just right.

Matt: [Laughs] Haha, yeah, that would have to be hard to make, wouldn't it?
DB: Indeed it was.

Matt: I seem to be running out of questions to ask… gonk

Can you leak anything on what might happen in the next few updates to the comic?

DB: Nope.

Matt: I was joking. I'm not so stupid as to ask for spoilers.

Well, I'm out of questions to ask. This may be of some relief to you. Thank you for your time.

DB: No Problem.
