stressed stressed stressed stressed stressed stressed I go to a very tiny highschool. And when I say tiny, I mean only 84 highschoolers, tiny. I'm on the volley ball team and since we're so small, we only have enough players for one team. We have 8 girls, that's it, and there's six players on a team. Well, anyhoo.... This year, our team has been doing really well and I was so excited to play in the JV tournament. I thought that for sure we'd place this year. The tournement, however, is on the same day of our highschool play. Half of the girls on our team or in the play. Now the tournament is scheduled to end at 4, and the call time for the play is 6. I personally don't see a conflict between the two. Well, yesterday, the director told the girls in the play that he forbid them to play in the tournement. I FORBID 4 OF OUR STARTING PLAYERS FROM PLAYING IN THE TOURNAMENT!!! I'm just really pissed, because the team's been so nice to the director. Volley ball practice was supposed to go from 2 to 4 everyday, but play practice starts at 3, and everyday at 3 oclock, we let the girls go to play practice. We let them go regardless of how much practice we needed, or when our next game was.
One of the girls said that she would play anyways and the director pulled her aside and said to her "the whole cast of this play has been preparing for this night. Do you really want to let them down?" Well, on the flip side, the volley ball team has been working really hard to get to this tournement, and now he's making the four girls let us down... I don't understand why the play is above the tournament. I think they should both be equal...
Well, that's not all. Because the four girls aren't allowed to play we don't have enough players to even fill up a team. So our sports director cancelled the tournement (which, might I add, we already payed for and are unable to get a refund) and signed us up for a varsity tournement. Or atleast we thought she had, but yesterday she told us that we can't play in that one because there are no more spots available.
Then, the volley ball girls had an idea that the paly could be moved from friday and saturday, to friday and sunday. But no, we can't do that because it's the cotume designer's birthday on sunday. Big deal. It's not like having a play for 3 hours on your birthday is going to ruin your life.
I'm just really frustrated because the volley ball team is working so hard to work around the play and the directr refuses (or at least it seems that way) to work around us. So, long story short, we don't get to play in a tournement at all this year.
I'm also pissed because at the beginning of the year it was said that if you were on a sports team you couldn't be in the play. The volley ball team practices started a week before school, and the play auditions
were the 4th week of school. The girls on the team shouldn't have been casted, and shouldn't have even auditioned.
True, the date for the play was on the school calander before the date for the tournement was decided, but a)that was something we couldn't help. We had to wait for the san diego count CIF assossiation to tell us the date and b)the volley ball team was formed before the cast of the play was determined. stressed stressed stressed
