Zane and I ran together, although I felt like I was being dragged rather then running beside him. We were running faster then sound and I noticed all the scenery as if we were moving only 20 miles per hour. Wind blew through my hair and whistled in my ears but all though I was able to see the scenery my eyes where only focusing on Zane’s hand in mine. His hand fitted in mine exactly like a puzzle pieces and I couldn’t get over that we were traveling together. When we stopped running we were near this little shack like house with cherry blossom trees surrounding it. The scenery around the house was incredible yet the house itself looked run down and shabby. I was wondering what we were doing here at this house in the middle of no where. Then in a second, I remembered what Zane told me before we began running, it had slipped my mind completely. I realized that he came here to show me what kind of people he hunted. I looked to my side but already Zane was gone and I noticed he was inside creeping in the shadows of the furniture. I looked into the window wondering who he’s was hiding from and at that moment I saw a young girl running into the living room crying and an old flabby man with a muscle shirt on full of stains of beer, vomit, and of sweat. He was simply repulsive and the young child was crying because of him. As soon as I saw him I looked at him and something that had never happened to me happened I looked into his soul. All his misdeeds were revealed to me as if I were there when he committed these disgusting hatred crimes. I filled with hatred toward this….this….repulsive a*****e. At that moment I saw him raise his hand to hit the young girl.
If Zane had not interfered with him I probably would have went crazy on him ripping out him veins from his neck and making his last moments on this life as painful as possible. I watched Zane hold his mans hand up and tell the young girl is the most softest and sweetest voice I had ever heard from him.
“go outside and meet this beautiful woman out there she and I are here to help you.”
She nodded her head and ran out of the living room tears coming down her soft face still. She ran into me as she came out of the door I looked down at her and wiped her tears from her face. As I looked at her I noticed her body was limp and she was bruised all around her body.
“Everything is going to be alright”
When I finished saying that in an instant she was in my arm crying more now but not tears of sadness or of pain but tears of joy of liberation. I shielded her ears and took her outside not to hear the screams of the man and the retched smell of his blood pouring onto the ground. I even looked away as I heard his screams.
“What’s going on in there with Zane,” I whispered making sure the young girls ears were not able to hear anything.
The screams had stopped and Zane was standing in the door way as if nothing had happened. I let go my grasp from the child and I stared at her with a smile.
“Don’t cry,….what’s your name?”
“Christen” she answered shakily.
Zane walked by my side and looked at the child as well.
“He wont harm you anymore” Zane said in a compassionate voice.
I picked her up and whispered to her ears “go to sleep you will be in a warm bed soon.”
She nodded her head and then rested it on my shoulder. In no time she was asleep in my arms I could tell she was very tired. As I was about to tell Zane to bring me a blanket from inside, I looked at him and he was already handing me one. I wrapped it around Christen and hoped this would make up for my cold skin and hard body.
Zane smiled at me and then spoke in a low voice “we should take her to an orphanage”
I nodded in agreement and we ran toward the closest town. We ran in silence I did not want to learn of what he did to the man nor what had happened to his body.
We made it to an orphanage and we went in no one was there in the hall way so Zane and I entered without making a noise and placed Christen gently on the bench wrapped up in the blanket. I looked at her face once more before having to leave then left out of the orphanage with Zane knocking on the door before leaving in a rush.
I knew I was never going to see Christen again. All I hoped for her was that she was taken to a good family and I hoped that she never had to go through what she went through ever again.
