Chapter 1:


A girl was sitting on the edge of a huge cliff, overlooking a small lake reflecting the moon. It was late, somewhere in the time radius of midnight. Reason pushed aside the hair in her face, it was the same color as the night sky. Then she stopped. Her ears flicked forward and she listened. No sound but the crickets. No, wait, there it was again. She stood up, looking as if she had heard something and started walking home. That was what the hunter was waiting for. He came, sprinting fast. Reason turned ready, and in a flash of light that blinded the man, she transformed to her cat form. The man regained himself and let out a shrill whistle. Four more men, dressed like the first, raced out of the woods. So they're gonna make this interesting... she thought. She ran toward a huge oak about 10 yard away and, as she expected they followed. When she reached the tree, her speed carried her up the trunk and she pushed off, somersaulting and landing, on her feet, behind the group. Not wasting time, she ran at them, slashing out with claws and teeth. Ree took out three of them, and the rest fled, knowing that they had a slim chance of winning. Not bothering to chase them, Ree sat down and changed back. Going back up to the cliff she grabbed her green pouch and slung it back across her torso. Then she started walking home, for real this time.
