Lizelle and Raven made their way across the country. Making their way over the plains and hills of the landscape. On the thirteenth day of their trek Lizelle looked up to see mountains. She stopped watching the sunset.
"The sun is almost down. We need to stop and make camp." She didn't look at Raven, but went about setting up camp. She walked into the treeline and started gathering wood.
The breaking of a twig made her drop her load and in one fluid motion she had her bow out and an arrow knocked toward the sound. Raven stepped out with his hands up.
"Whoa. Easy there on that trigger. I just came in to help you."
"I don't need your help."
"Touchy. Fine have it your way. I will go and get some food."He faded into the shadows as quickly as he came.
Her heart pounding she placed the arrow back into the quiver. Slinging the bow back over her shoulder she picked up the wood she dropped. After about an hour she came back with her arms laided with wood and dropped it in a somewhat secluded spot that they had designated as their camp. She dug a small hole and some of the wood into it. Taking her pack off her back she rummaged in it and toke out her flint. Standing over the wood she struck the stone and sparks flew. After several more attempts the wood finally caught and a roaring fire soon followed.
Raven came back to the site carring a line of fish to find Lizelle sitting cross legged on the ground with her back to the fire.
"Took you long enough."
"Well not all of us are as gifted as your race." He said this with a sneer.
"Toche'." She turned around and held out her hand for the fish. He handed them over to her and she picked up a pan from beside her and setting it over the fire. Dropping a fish into it there was a pop and a sizzle then the sweet smell of cooking fish. A short time later she began to pull out a couple of plates and utinsiles. She passed a plate with fish and some roasted wild mushrooms to Raven and they began to eat.
"This is better than anything I have ever tasted. Even for being in a tavern."
A small smile crossed her lips as she looked up at him, "Well I can do more than cook, but your welcome all the same."
Raven almost fell over from shock. "Oh my god. You are civil. I might want to watch my step."
Chuckling they both finished their food and bedded down for the night.
