Religion takes place in molding what the people would be. It dictates ‘what is’ and ‘what is not’. It indicates what is good for the human life and what is bad. And because women are more religious than the males, they are regarded as one of the indicators of values. Though their first priority is not religion, they are still active on some religious activities. Women who are beautiful are those who are virtuous, intelligent, successful, have good looks, modern, wealthy and conservative. Being beautiful does not imply having a good physical feature, rather of what is she as a person/ citizen, what she is doing and what is right.

For men and women who have been asked what their concept of beautiful woman, being virtuous is on their top choice. Intelligent is on their second, then good looking, has good character, and conservative is on third, fourth and fifth respectively. No doubt that they choose being a virtuous, as already been said, it is because of being religious of them. They regard beauty on those who are kind, considerate, understanding and of high principles. And for a model mother, a loving, kind and good in taking care or raising their children is on the top. For those female who have been asked, it is on their first list. Woman bears their child in their womb foe nine months, and because of this, mothers have more attachment to their children. They want to give their full of their love to them; giving the needs that they needed and time to have more quality time for their children. Being kind to them for treating them as their precious gem that even a single bite of mosquito, they did not want to be on their children’s skin. And they ensure the future of their child by giving proper education and teaching and helping them. I am not saying that the above mentioned characteristics can only be seen on the women, but on men too, it is just that we all know that some of the men work for their family, and so their wives are the one who are with their children most of the time.

When the women choose the mentioned traits, men top ranked good house keeper as their conceptualization of a good housekeeper. They choose it because all they want after a hard work in their job; they will be served to ease the restlessness that they felt. Being a good housekeeper entails of doing all the house chores – cooking, cleaning the whole house, washing dishes an clothes, an taking care of their children.

And being a model daughter, it means of being obedient and loving. You follow all the rules and regulations that your parents gave to you. You will o what ever they ha been said; and loving not only your family but also those other people. And other traits that a model daughter should have are being respectful, courteous, virtuous, industrious, responsible, helpful an intelligent.

Women who are successful are those who are talented and educated. Education, in formal or informal, is the aspect in which is very important to each and one of us. It gives us knowledge and wisdom. It leads us to the path that we want to go through; helps us to achieve our goal in life. It is no doubt the stepping stone in success. And education will do help in specializing you talent that can make you also to succeed. They said that talent is a go gift, so use it properly and work hard. Having a job and having a pleasing physical look is not necessary requirement in success. Not all women who have work are successful. Let’s take those who are working in the pubs as an example. They have a job but they have it because of commodity. They need that job because they can only fin money to survive in this material world in those places. And there are also other workers that in the company but are not successful because of the anomalies that their top manages are doing. They are being exploited an alienate in a sense that they are set to o this job not to be a productive being but just a machinery that can be helpful for them to gain more money an power. And not all successful women have a pleasing physical look.

One indicator of values that they say is the mass media; radio, television and movies. It does not give only information on what is the current news and giving entertainment, but it also teaches some manners and attitudes. But there are people who are saying that movies have bad influences in the youth. It teaches some immoral acts and something that the youth must not be doing. But on the other side, for adults, it gives positive influence. Because of the woks that the elders are doing, going to the cinemas to watch their favorite movie is one way of relaxation.

Moving on, TV and radio programs that topped the list are the soap opera. Soap operas are the programs that tell a story that somehow can be visualize in real time. It appeals to the people because they can see the sufferings of the characters in the program, and realized that they are not alone from their problems. It also plays as their stress-reliever that eases their boredom.

Second on the list are the musical programs. As we all know, Filipinos are inclined in music. They use music to express what they feel. Most of the time, composers are making songs that are based on their experience, and/or will give hope or inspiration to the listeners. Some types of music that the respondents want are: Kundiman, songs of love and popular sentiments of unfulfilled longings that usually expressed indirectly; Ballads, songs that tells a story o celebrate historical events; Folk music, songs that includes religious works and rituals that express in peoples innermost thought and feelings; classical music, those songs that lasted for more that a decade but still people wants it; and last jazz and rock music.

On the third list are the variety shows. It gives entertainment on the viewers that usually the programs are game shows or reality shows. Fourth is the news program that gives the viewers what is happening in an out o the country. Last are the educational programs that can be much helpful for the students such as Mathenic, Epol Apple, and Sineskwela.

CONCLUSION


Religion is undeniably on of the factors that affects human life. An institution that can divides or unites the people. It can also influence human to believe in a thing that even without scientific proofs, it can be. And because most of the religious people are women, they are regarded as an indicator of values. They are the medium in telling what is right and what is not that the religion sets. Through women, religious beliefs and values are passé to the other people.

Women posses beauty, beauty that is not physically defined but on what she rightly do. A beautiful woman and a model mother is a virtuous woman. And being successful must be educated.

Aside from women, mass media is also one of the medium that can give values to their viewers. There are programs that are not educational but there are still that can teach the people what is right. There are some that says that the movies have a bad influence on the youth. But the time is changing. Rules had been change. In the Philippines, the most concern of the media men are the youths. They make sure that the programs that they will show will teach the youth. Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is a branch of government in the Philippines in which will evaluate all the programs that aired in the Philippines, an also the movies. In movies, they give age limitation in which only those who are in a specified age will be allowed to watch the show. By this, the bad affect on the youth on what they had been watched will be eliminated. There are movies that are made especially for the youth. It gives some cultural values on a featured country or nation, and/or something that can help them academically.

We are in the world in which everything is in constant flux. Everything is changing; the beliefs and preference. The opinion in this generation is different in before and after that generation.
