I had posted this on my LJ as well, but now I feel a need to post it other places. It's the only time I've ever felt like I said something remotely intelligent.
I was thinking a lot last night. Sometimes when I'm tired and it's late, I get really deep thoughts. Something I saw about five seconds of on TV at a friend's house made me think about love.
You know... I really just don't get it. Yeah, we use these terms like "gay", "bi", "lesbian", "straight"... but I really wonder. Is it truly necessary that we all must label ourselves as one or the other? Of course not all people will be attracted to just anybody, but do we really need to separate ourselves by who we fall in love with? What makes gender so special? Reproduction? That just doesn't feel right. Yes, it's important to keep the human race alive but that's not the sole reason people should be together. They should do it for themselves, especially if they really love each other.
I really wish that people were more open-minded. There's quite a bit in this world I don't understand but that's why I keep my mouth shut because it's arrogant to say something about a topic if you have no knowledge of it. And a lot of people just don't seem to understand love... and that's when they need to learn that it's time to keep silent.
It makes me sad. I see all of these cases of life partners splitting up, and quite a few of my friends have struggled with the divorce of their own parents. I just wish people could treat it more seriously. Love isn't a joke. It's the most important thing in this world.
I don't mean just romantic love either. Love of friends, family. I wish people would stop making war. I know that it's human nature to fight... but it truly would be nice if, for at least one second, the whole world could just get along and forget all these negative emotions.
I am not religious in the slightest, but I will pray anyway that one day, we could just achieve this one goal of a sole moment of pure peace and love.
Like. I won't deny that sometimes religious situations can make me a little uncomfortable, because, to be honest, I'm not sure what I believe about God and whatnot. But, it also makes me happy to know that there's something that people can believe in and that gives them hope.
People don't understand what others have to go through to get by in life. How someone who may love the same gender is harassed by others constantly only because they're in love. How a person may be shunned by others because they hold a strong faith in God. Or even how a person may be labeled as an outcast because they dress in clothes that "don't match up to their physical self" or some bullshit like that.
I want the hate to stop. I know I'm not the only one. There are so many of us out there that just want peace. So, please, guys. Think on this one. Please give peace a chance.
