"Ugh, who spiked the punch..." Whispered Chartreuse. Her head was pounding, and she had no idea where she was. She opened her eyes cautiously, and found that she was in some sort of extravagant bedroom. She was actually laying in a beautiful velvet canopy bed. The frame seemed to be made out of a gold alloy, or something. Chartreuse sat up too quickly, and induced a short spell of dizziness. "Oh, you're awake" came Gavin's voice from the corner. "Ugh, just what I needed." Chartreuse said, in an annoyed tone. "You need to listen, Char." Said Gavin. He seemed to be worried, or at least he sounded like it. "Is...is any of this true...anything at all? Please, just tell me if I'm dreaming." "Not at all." Said Gavin, who sighed to himself. "Char, you are the princess of the Pixies." "Oh man. So how'd this come to pass?" Chartreuse asked. It was better to go with the flow, and wake up later. "Oh. Well the Legend Goes like this," Began Gavin. He walked over and sat next to Chartreuse on the bed. "Long ago, before Adaeli was born, there was a prophecy. The sages of the ancient tribes laid it down in stone in the old temple of the forest. 'Combined are the wings of a faery and the eyes of a man. When Darkness falls upon our land, only she can take our hands. She can wield the sword.' Back then, any contact with Human...well. It was forbidden. And anyone who decided to walk among humans in a seperate form was thought as a traitor. It was unheard of to bear a child of a human...of course. But then, Princess Adaeli came along. She was...well. A Rebel, to say the least. She'd go out and observe Humans, as a child. Forgetting the Prophecy, Her mother and father made a law against Pixie Contact with Humans. Hundreds of years went by, and finally, Adaeli's Father rejoined the Sages... and she had to take the Throne. She was Nowhere to be found at first, and the council sent out my Father, to find her, and ask for her hand in Marriage. She was supposed to unite the Leprechaun Clan...my clan, and the Pixie Empire. Princess Adaeli was found, alright. She was stuck in her Human form, and she was 8 and a half months pregnant for you. She was living in the forest, and was in the worst shape. Her Dress was torn, her skin was foul...she was a wreck. She cried to her mother, who, despite her fury, suggested to leave the baby with the Father. Seven days later, you were born, Chartreuse. Princess Adaeli lost her ability to transform again into a Human Woman. She prayed to the sages for the answer to her misfortune. She Prayed for forgiveness, and safety for her child. The sages, including her Father, Sent another prophecy. 'The Baby is she of legends. 18 years will come and go, and the foretold darkness will fall over the Kingdom. The darkess will bear a child of itself, and your child will bring the light back to us in our darkest hour.' So, The Day Adaeli was Crowned Queen, she left you with your father. You were wrapped in a green blanket, with your Birth Certificate, and the note from your mother that he now keeps. 'Thank you for your love. I'm sorry for leaving. I No longer deserve that love. Instead, love your daughter. Raise her well, and let her know I loved her, too. - Adaeli'." recited Gavin. "Wow. How'd you know all that?" Chartreuse said, slowly soaking in the information. "My father loved Queen Adaeli. He did all he could, but to no avail. He told me this story, in hopes that maybe I wouldn't make the same mistake." It was silent for a moment. Chartreuse believed now, that it was no dream. The pain, the myths, the legends...it had to be real. She was real, and so was Gavin, for all these years. If it was a dream...why would it feel so real? Chartreuse blushed briefly. "I hope you don't either." She whispered. Gavin bent down, and kissed her.
